Depending on the gauge of the wire and the voltage traveling the wire.
When I was doing power plant construction. Heights ran from 11' to 18' above roads to buoldings.
It depends on your state.Shock Therapy Thanks this. -
Thanks for your reply,
Had a little mishap about three weeks ago involving a John Deere tractor, a very tall soil finisher and a cable tv supply line, when I got home today there was a nice little citation for being over height. Don't know how they knew if I was over height or not as no one measured the soil finisher...

We did a move from Philly to Salem Mass with a 14'5" tall load. No power wire issues except for PA. It was just one large one stretched over hwy 611. The low hanging cable wires were more of a pain in the ###.NavigatorWife, Oxbow and Shock Therapy Thank this.

Did you measure it?snowman_w900, Oxbow, Shock Therapy and 2 others Thank this.

Sure did and we figured someone pulled it to the auction so we were gonna pull it home, but under further investigation we think the first owner just might have took it apart and hauled it there because his insurance company was tired of paying for high lines.NavigatorWife and Big Don Thank this.

Cab
Cable lines very often sag low and very often are not installed high enough to clear traffic.
You should know if you deserve that ticket. Were you legal height?
I just read your post again was this in Illinois. Illinois has some regulation in the oversize code, that farm implements don't need permits. I am not sure what size. It might only pertain to the wide. Not sure.
Worth a look.
Good luck.Big Don and Shock Therapy Thank this. -
We pulled it close to 100 miles and had one incident but I guess one is all it takes.
Big Don Thanks this. -
How tall is it? The reason I asked is in most states things need to be at least 13'6" tall. Every state is different but that's usually the minimum. Last year our other driver had a manhole box on an was right at 13', he caught a cable wire on a road we run all the time, he yanked the cable tv box right off the side of the house. The sheriff came and measured his load, it was 13' the sheriff said see ya later this is the cable company's problem.NavigatorWife, Big Don, Dye Guardian and 9 others Thank this.

When you measured - how tall were you?
The state or county or city can only conclude that you were outside the legal envelope based on your interactions with the utility's line.Ruthless, Oxbow and johndeere4020 Thank this.
