Part of that I think is that you have a 5000 BTU. I dont think its enough when your out in the sun and its near triple digit temps.

I have a 8500 BTU that is the second one I bought for this truck. I had the same problems as you with the first 8500 BTU. First was a GE,.. now have a Frigidaire,.. even in triple digit temps and even higher heat index,.. with the sun baking the condo roof like a solar sauna,.. it can maintain 67f inside here 24hr a day.

And definitely with the curtain drawn closed. If I leave the curtain open with the sun blasting through the windshield,.. then yeah,.. the AC struggles a little bit. I have considerably more to cool down in here. Why I wont get another condo roof. I dont need it or like it very much. Mid roof would be so much nicer.

Mine runs everywhere. Negative temps in Watford City, ND,.. I just left Savannah, Ga,.. it was hot as Hades down there, easily near 100f. Works great in upper elevations like Laramie, Wy, Donner Pass,.. top of 4th july. Every where.

Its like the energizer bunny.. yank the choke, turn on the fuel,.. turn the key and it starts on the first crank every time,.. all the time. No issues.

And I'm really not a big fan of none American things. But I have to admit,. this Honda is pretty darn good.
