When I left Con-Way Truckload(Now CFI again), they had been ordering exclusively automatics for the last 2-3 years. They still had manuals if you were in an older truck like mine. But they weren't going to order anymore manuals.
They were a great company to work for. I enjoyed my time with them and made some great friends there. Also they dropped the experience requirement years ago. So even if you're new to the industry you could apply over there. Not sure how much experience you have. -

I don't text or do anything like that while driving so it's not an issue for me then either. I did have a hard braking incident once where Safety called me in and showed me the report from the monitoring people but it was no big deal. I was at fault and I knew it at the time of the incident so there was no need for any drama. Just acknowledged what happened and moved on with life.
It has gone off many times since then when hitting bumps in road or a dock, or even a sharp swerve to avoid a car cutting in front of me, but heard nothing from Safety about those, so it's definitely a case of the monitoring company flagging particular "at fault" incidents that gets sent to safety.JV_620 Thanks this. -
Thanks for the info folks!
The sad part is I think driving standard is a lot of fun and I love to do it but there's no way I could and make a living.
