Yeh yeh.., drivers responsibility... operators responsibility... your not ready to be a driver..... you need to stand up for yourself ..... you need the trainer..... Al the BS from people that have not been in the mega company trainer/trainee situation.
This is probably the worst situation to be in in the trucking world. For those that don't know, your a pretty much held hostage at the hands of a mega-company and the worst tool of a driver you ever met. Most, not all, of these mega company trainers are such bad drivers they couldn't earn enough money to feed themselves if they had to drive solo.
And while you could stand your ground and call the company, that is a 1/2 hour of your life waiting on hold before you get any response. And when you get to talk to someone, that response will not be worth the time of day.
Jump ship, change companys, change mentors, it doesn't matter. Their is nothing special about Werner that should keep you there. Get yourself out of the situation where your driving tired or risking your driving record do to bad decisions by a mentor or a company. -

I've really looked at SNI for the safety training and the fact the trainer sits with you the entire time. None of that team driving training crap. I guess the OP couldn't get hired there? If you couldn't and Werner was the only choice. Call the DM and get another trainer. Don't let them take advantage of you.
This training stuff is what almost put me off entirely. Yes, pay your dues..blah blah but in the UK when you get your CDL (HGV there) you go straight into work. Training is maybe a week and that involves staying near your home so you can go home to sleep at night. No bunk buddies.Last edited: Mar 28, 2017

The whole point of company training after going to CDL school it to get the "trainer" to teach you the stuff they would get in trouble teaching in a school setting. It is called plausible deniability: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plausible_deniability

As most on here know, I don't drive a tractor trailer often so take what I say with a grain of salt (and no offense intended OP)
Get some backbone. You can't let yourself get bossed around into running unsafe. If the truck/trailer has serious safety defects, don't drive it, fix/get it fixed. If you're tired, find a safe spot to pull over (like a rest area, not the shoulder). Get out of the cab for 5 minutes and stretch. Walk around, get some fresh air. You aren't just gambling with your license here, you're gambling your reputation, your safety and the public's safety.Rocknroller4, BUMBACLADWAR and x1Heavy Thank this.
