Wow that is crazy, I have never worked for a company that forced "light Duty" workers to pay for thier own room and board, what a crock.

This is the problem with working for OTR companies.

If this went down as the poster offers, Schneider was truly in violation of some rather simple Worker's Compensation standards. An Attorney would have shredded the company for this, HAD this driver not quit in the midst of it all.

Demanding a worker to return to light duty, some 276 miles away from his home, and requiring him to pay for travel, lodging, and living expenses, while subsisting on two thirds of one's pay represented an unreasonable demand upon a man who is temporarily disabled and under a doctor's care for an on-the-job injury.

I would still seek the advice of an Attorney to, at the very least, have any negative reference of any to any of this removed from your record. If two years have not passed since you quit, you may still be entitled to some damages, so don't hesitate, if you think that this will affect you for some time to come.

Schneider's negative reference will be on your DAC record for another five years or so.

Folks, at the first sign that an employer is acting improperly, after you have been injured on the job, protect your rights and your future by consulting an Attorney that specializes in Worker's Compensation law.

95% of all employers will act improperly or illegally regarding W/C cases, and make injured workers jump through hoops, in order to try and make them quit. And the minute you do, you usually forfeit your rights the second you utter those words. NEVER quit while under care. Make them fire you, which would be absolutely stupid on their part if they do, and then go after them.

I feel sympathy for you Bananaz. Thanks to your post, though, I HAVE learned a lesson. I hate that I had to learn it the way I did, but I did learn it. I hope all works out for you, man.

Your situation is yet another reason I got out of trucking. Trucking is just not a secure enough job/career to me. Working hard and playing by the rules doesn't necessarily translate into increased job security, not when that security depends on somebody else, a somebody who often has no sympathy for you nor any clue of what you are going through on the road.

In trucking, plain dumb luck plays too large a role in a driver's "success", or lack of it, for my liking. And it sounds like you've had some extremely bad luck of late. It also sounds like Schneider is creating problems out of a situation that shouldn't be a problem, surprise, surprise. Call a lawyer and see if you can rectify this.

You know...it sounds like to me they're just playing a game with you. If you call up the right person and beg, beg, beg, I bet they'd change that "no rehire" entry to "eligible for rehire". They want you to beg, I'd guess.

    Bananaz,

I know how you feel as I`ve had that happen TWICE in the past 10 years.
First time was from repatative wrenching (tennis elbow) and I was so called laid off after I was healed up (the company did go belly up). The 2nd time I worked at a factory and got tendenitus of the wrist. Since I was with a temp agency (Like Manpower) they let me got before I was even healed up. I was told that since I was not an employee for the factory , That were was no legal recourse I could take.

Sounds like the Cable industry I just left. (got burned out, famined more then feast) CYA all the way.

    You and me both, Mack.

That's why my "no rehire" tags stayed exactly that.

Companies are either very stupid or very smart when it comes to this. They'll bust a guy and flag him "no rehire", put his truck on a line of other cleaned-outs, and then *************** and moan about their turnover problems. Whatever the guy was doing that cost the company, I'm sure it was a lot less than the opportunity cost of the truck sitting on the lot collecting dust.

Man, these companies are OBVIOUSLY getting some sort of government relief from their cleaned-outs. There is no other explanation for why this is going on....unless company insiders are just plain stupid. Sounds like they're pretty smart if they're getting tax benefits....benefits that have to be made up by John Q. Taxpayer.

Now I've just GOT to stick my .01 into this thread.....

SNI has the best company sponsored training program out there.. I do not think anyone can deny this

SNI has some great dedicated run with great home time home most night and weekends off (jc penny comes to mind)

SNI is what most people call a training company.. their main focus is to train new drivers get them on the road and get them the experience that the industry needs them to have

SNI has a very nice safety record now..

SNI has some problems (mostly communications) that need to be addressed

TimeWalker, that could have been the reason I saw those trucks sitting around. At least part of the reason, anyway. This terminal I'm talking about was/is in Ohio near the big T/A not far from Akron (?) on I-76, I think. It's been awhile, so I could be wrong.

Maybe that is one terminal where used trucks are shown, sure.
