It looks like I might be using this service too. I got a 12 over in Nashville a week ago. They sat at the 65-55 transition point, one cop radioed ahead to another who busted me. One thing through...the cop said he wrote it down as a NON CDL violation.

I don't think that will help much. All ticket convictions have to be reported to the company. I guess he was trying to be nice, but your log will get you if you were in the truck.

Thx for the quick response! Yeah, I thought the same thing about the NON CDL comment.

Looks like there is going to be an increase in these types of stops. It is easy revenue for the city or state. Hopefully, they get the 4 wheelers as well.

It's just my opininion, but I think that Pre-Paid Legal does work. I have tried American Truckers Legal Association and I have seen the booths at the TA's advertising something called TVC Road Pro.

American Truckers Legal Association is in my opinion nothing but a ripoff as you do not get to actually speak to an attorney. All it is is nothing but a referal service that will charge you up the bing bong until it hurts and you won't get any kind of real quality legal advice or help from them.

I've never tried TVC Road Pro before, but they say that if you just stick their little sticker in your window, then the Ohio Bears won't mess with you, but in my opinion I think that is nothing but a load of b.s as the bears are going to mess with you no matter what and it is a lot better to have some sort of protection on your side to defend against all the crap that the bears and the DOT like to pull on you and that is not to mention all the crap that many of the trucking companies like to pull as well as your license is your meal ticket and in my opinion there is just no room to be taking any chances with your meal ticket.

I have been a member of Pre-Paid Legal for a long time and I have used it repeatedly time and time again to help me to get out of legal situations and to protect my legal rights and I can tell you for a fact that Pre-Paid Legal does work and as a result I have decided to sign up to be an independent representative of the company because it is something that my father who is an attorney has suggested to me over the years and it is because of him that I became a member of Pre-Paid Legal.

I can't say as to how well the CDLP plan works as that is something new that they have just come out with, but if it is like the rest of their services then it ought to be good and well worth both the time and the investment, especially if it helps to protect both your job, your DAC report, and your meal ticket and I can tell you from experience that most companies can and do lie through their teeth and now because of my most recent employer who has messed up my DAC report big time I am going to have a difficult time finding any company that is willing to hire me OTR and that is actually fine with me because I am sick and tired of driving OTR and I miss the idea of being able to actually get out and have something called a real life again.

I just thought that I would share with you my opinion of Pre-Paid Legal and all of the other legal plans that I have seen as well as what my experience has been with them. It's up to you to decide for yourself if it is worth it or not and as to how important your meal ticket is to you because now in today's day and age these bears and all of the muncipalities are just out for one thing and that is to collect as much money from you as they possibly can and if they have to break something on your truck or trailer or if they have to falsify any of your or their documents to get that money from you, then you can be darn straight that they will do it because to them it is nothing but a business and to them you are nothing but a rolling billboard just screaming to be pulled over at any time just so that they can find some excuse to mess with you and make your life just as miserable as they possibly can and that is especially true in states like California, New York, Illinois, Ohio, and Michigan because for some reason they just hate us with a passion and so far I have never figured out as to why they hate us.

All that I know is that dogs tend to have more rights than we do and when it comes to our livelihood we need to be doing everything that we can to protect ourselves because it is one heck of a wild and wooley jungle out there. That's just my opinion.

Here's a perfect example of how TVC, a pre-paid legal service saved my driving career:

I was northbound on I-5, on the Grapevine, running at about 66 mph and approaching the downside. For those of you not familiar with the Grapevine; when you hit the downgrade, you first encounter a 45 mph zone (runs for 1 mile) then you hit a 35 mph 'Trucks Only' lane. It was about 2 am and my mind was a million miles away when I hit the 45 mph zone and got a red light in my mirror a half mile into the zone. Keep in mind that at 66 mph that's under 30 seconds. Cited for 21 mph over the speed limit, no longer speeding, but reckless driving. TVC had an attorney show up for me at the arraignment, he tried to negotiate the charge but the DA refuse because of the reckless driving element. o he requests a jury trial. They called me told me it doesn't look good. After two more appearances, they called me one day and said the lawyer got the charged reduced to 'Coasting', $120 fine, ZERO points. Tell me, how much is that worth? Thirty five dollars is nothing, compared to the peace of mind knowing that I never have to see a courtroom, just send the ticket in and a lawyer appears for me anywhere in the United States. I am so sold on the service, that I can say nobody, in no way shape or form is going to change my mind. I don't know about other services, I can only speak on my own experience

Here's how dirty California can be. I just start a job for an O/O. He needed me to do a quick run from Hayward CA to Reno NV. I hadn't worked in about 8 mos., stopped by my apartment and remembered I needed a logbook. So, I grabbed an old book, started it an was on my way. After delivering I stopped just before the scales to catch up my log and realized that I made an error. Having left home at 4 pm, I, in a rush, had started my time at 4 am. Being tired and wanting to get back I entered a notation at the 12 midnight mark "Add 12 hours". Sure enough, I get inspected. Turns out I had neglected to enter the previous 6 days. Even though I had an unemployment check stub for the previous week he said he was still going to cited me. When he gives me the ticket to sign, I see that I am being cited for "Falsification of Logbook". I asked him what did I falsify? He responded, "Say another word and I'll also take you out-of-service for 10 hours. It cost me $525 and 1 1/2 points. Now, if he didn't take me out of service, then what more do you need to show that I hadn't falsified anything. One-way it is around 180 miles. I don't get it. WHY? WHY LIE?

I know nothing about clinics. But, the service I used, TVC would take your B and C stack, 200 tickets and plead them all Not Guilty and request trial by jury. Now, the court is looking at seating 2,400 jurors, BUT they have to be selected from a pool of easily double that number. It doesn't take Clarence Darrow to do the above. The DA plea bargains them, reduced to a minor violation, no points, $120-$150 fine.

Were you to retain an attorney on an 'as needed' basis, it would easily cost you $2,000 to resolve. That is equal to almost five years coverage, at $35/mo.

I had something similar happen to me in Cali. I had American Trucker Legal Association at the time, but in my opinion they are worthless because I got really bad advice from them.

I've never tried TVC, but I have used Pre-Paid Legal for personal things and so far I have not had any problems with them.
