All the weapons and self-defense threads have me wondering, where do you go that is dangerous? People talk about crackhead with knives, etc. The worst I encounter is panhandlers and prostitutes, and they're just a nuisance.
An effective s/d weapon within most of our reach?

A lot of times they are just looking for a way to get within reach of you by starting up a conversation. My buddies and I got robbed by a guy on Prospect Ave. in Cleveland who just asked for a cigarette. Then he said, "Hey, wanna smoke a joint?"
30 seconds later, we were staring down the barrel of his gun and emptying our pockets.
The one guy was so scared, he even handed over some McDonald's gift certificates. The dude laughed and said, "Naw man... you can have those back."bzinger, spyder7723 and Boattlebot Thank this. -
I need to catch up on my lingo. I thought "s/d weapon" was "sexual disease weapon"...
Never thought of weaponizing the fight against crabs and clap, but to each their own...bzinger, ExOTR, SingingWolf and 6 others Thank this. -

And what would you have done if you were armed? Draw on a guy who's pointing a gun at you? Good luck with that. Draw on him first because he bummed a smoke so he couldn't get the drop on you? That'll go well.Last edited: Mar 31, 2017

Wasp spray. 20+ feet of blinding goodness. For more intimate encounters... my pitbull Bloo. That's his truck and his mama and he knows what side his milk bone is buttered on.

Would I have pulled a gun on the guy? Nope, it's too late when they've already shown their cards.
Would I have drawn on the guy for asking for a smoke? Nope, because now I wouldn't put myself in that situation.
I'm quite a bit more saavy today. I can spot them a mile away just by the way they make eye contact. I avoid conflict at all cost. If I'm in my truck and some skeezer heads my way, I go back in the sleeper and ignore them. They usually go away.
If they're just too ####ing dumb to go away without being told, my weapon of choice is in my hand (but not where they can see it). If they choose to ignore my request to go away and climb up on the side of my truck, it usually doesn't take them long to realize they got the wrong truck... "sorry man, I thought you were someone else."
At that point, I get the hell out of Dodge because I don't need them coming back or bringing friends. -
Ruger SR 40.....I sleep very well no matter where I park.
I was told by Chattanooga PD one night when 2 guys tried getting in my truck while it was running and I was sleeping,If they come back shoot them!....My laser sight sent them running before they got in.
If they know you are in the truck and try to get in it is a dang good chance they are armed too.
People are crazy these days so why take a chance.Ooops Thanks this. -
