Just got my class A cdl with tanker endorsement. What's a good company for starters? Been invited to US Express and Knights orientation but unsure which companies to trust....any ideas.

Where are you located and what age are you.
There is no maximum age but some companies do have a minimum age.
Do you have endorsements besides tanker?

OK, old timer....lol. Wish I was 40 again!
Here's a list of some good companies that hire new grads. Ignore any "experience required" on the websites because they bend their own hiring criteria or the website isn't up to date.
    Tanker:
    McKenzie Tank Lines
    Schneider Bulk
    Superior-Carriers
    CTL Transportation
    SVTN (svtn.com)
    Tidewater Transit
    Dry van & refrigerated:
    Magnum Ltd.
    Freymiller
    Navajo Express
    Abilene Motor Express
    Tyson Foods
    Britton Transport
    FFE (Frozen Food Express)
There's plenty more, but these are some of the best for new cdl grads.

@Chinatown is our universally-recognized career counselor. We're pretty lucky that he doesn't charge us all for his advice... :)

    Chinatown,

I live in NW Florida, starting CDL school on the 17th. Im 41, no bills, mortgage, spouse or kids to worry about so getting back here isn't a priority for me.

Would you recommend Knight Reefer or Dry Van? I'd prefer Reefer but either is cool. Im also considering the new CFI up in Joplin, MO. Mostly, I want to go with a carrier that offers the veteran apprenticeship program.

Sorry to pester you, thank you in advance for you time and help!

I'd go with CFI over Knight.
Have you considered tankers; Schneider Bulk has veteran apprenticeship program.
Jim Palmer Trucking has veterans apprenticeship program, but you have to attend their inhouse cdl school. I'ts a reefer outfit and the trucks are set up right for driver comfort. Check the pictures on their website.

I don't have a list of companies that participate in the veterans apprenticeship program, but there's a lot of them.
Start a new thread on "Questions From New Drivers".... "Which companies have Veterans Apprenticeship Program?"

    Fatmando and rward75 Thank this.

FFE (Frozen Food Express) has something about veterans and military retirees on the website, but don't know if it's the veterans apprenticeship program or not. You can call and ask. Here's what the website has:
    "Separating Military
We value your military service. FFE has a long history of honoring the veterans in America's Armed Forces. One of our founders, Cy Weller, served as a Master Sergeant in the Army.
We know that the discipline, teamwork and skills developed while serving our country translate into a good work ethic. We appreciate the professionalism and dedication that retired military personnel bring to our company. If you are currently serving in the military or have separated within the past few years, we would enjoy speaking with you."

    Fatmando and rward75 Thank this.

Wil-Trans Immediately turned me down, no idea why. I figured it was because I didn't have my CDL so after that I started my enrollment process with TDI here in Milton, FL

I will start that thread, hopefully later this evening. Thank you so much!
