JB doesnt hire newbies?? They have been trying to recruit my wife for the best part of a year now.She has never driven a big truck in her life, closest she has been to one was to look inside my rig when I was home for a weekend. We have told them to stop calling and they say OK,then a few days later they call again.Thinkin about getting a real loud whistle and giving them an ear blast when they call again. As far as Swift is concerned I came out of retirement back in Feb.and went to work for them.Everything from the git go was down hill,up until the time they switched my driver mngr,er errand boy.The second one tried his best to do right by me.But by then the damage had been done. After 3 wks.out including their orientation,I brought a Sears load into Columbus, which I dropped at Sears then back to the term.for an Mt trl.then home.Dispatch would not let me bobtail home.Looked all over the yard for a good MT trl.Everyone I found was hooked to someone elses truck.(on the computer)not physically. After about 2 hrs.I was about to go thru the window and choke a weekend dispatcher,he said oh go down to Kmart they havce a lot of MTs.The a--ho;le could have tolds me that a couple hrs. sooner.Got home for 3 days,Dr.Mngr.calls me with a run to Sparks Nev.I said sure that is good miles from NE OH.Got to Sparks, from there to Oregon, then Wash.then Idaho, then Las Vegas,Riverside,CA.Otay Mesa,CA,Seattle WA.Boise,Id,all the while I was told there is no eastbound frieght. Now I dont have a thing against the west coast but ###### it aint home for me.Finally after 3 wks. of the west coast I got a load going back east.Every time I was slated to go home it was like pulling teeth to get there.Another time came to the term.with MT trl.was then instructed to take my MT to Sears, they needed MTS.Took it to Sears ,they had around 75 to 100 MT Swift trls. sitting in their lot.I was then dispatched on a run,and guess what yeah gotta have an MT for a live load.No MTs at term.drove all over Columbus looking for one. These sorry ********* dispatchers cant even tell you where the MTs are.Broke down in Nashville, tractor went to dealer for repairs.I stayed in rartty ********* motel for 2 days.My Dr.Mngr.called and put me on a stinking Greyhound bus to PA.to pickup a newer truck,he told me your really gonna like this truck its newer and better than the one you now have.Got to PA.picked up the newer truck which was OK.Dispatched on a load coming back to Columbus.DR.Mngr.sends message to call him live.I am to pick up another driver in Columbus, then pick up a load headed for TX.by way of Nashville.Figured they were going to give him my old truck.Wrong, this kid is getting the new truck I get the old POS back.Dr.Mngr.says this driver is a real pro,let him drive,etc.etc..Turns out he is a young guy who has about 3 mos.experience, must have been the DR.Mngrs. nephew or something like that.Anyway we pick up load ,and this kid has no money, not a penny to his name.Ibouyght him a meal, and a couple sodas on the way to Nashville. All the while he is complaining he has no smokes.###### if I am going to buy cigs. for him.Stopped at a truck stop and he gets in touch with Swift, gets a Com ck.he comes out of the tr.st.with a big Coke and a carton of Cigs.Never offers to pay me back for meal or anything.Another couple days with this guy and I would have had another dependant for tax purposes.I finished out my stint with the old POS truck.Came home because my wife was going to hosp.for major surgery.Never went back and never will.Oh well just my experience with Swift. It might help someone out who is thinking of signing on with them.

Some people have to find out the hard way.... -
This site is dedicated to allowing ALL to express their opinions, both negative and positive. I LOVE hearing the good stuff. I'd love to see more.
But here's the problem....
You're walking into your new adventure with your eyes wide open, and that's certainly your right to do. What you HAVEN'T done yet, is to work for JB Hunt, YET....if you are being on the level, and I'm not sure you are. I think like a few others, that you are just up to some of the same games that some others have obviously tried. And besides, your timing is completely suspect. After all...who are you?
So how can you hold a straight face, and attempt to float off the "fact" that you have "had lunch" with a recruiter, and know whether or not ANYTHING is the truth?
And before you become totally indignant, and accuse anyone of stemming a positive opinion, read the posts. There have been plenty of people that have offered positive insight and testimony in regard to their experience with JB Hunt, and they have not been touched.
Let us know in six months what a great company they are, if you work there that long.
And good luck....because you're gonna need it.... -
It all adds up. -
Since I know that this "gentleman" will be able to read this...
And while we are at it, let's define something else. You don't work for JB Hunt. You're a headhunter from one of those fine trucking job sites. Press the issue, by furthering your harrassment of this site, and I'll name it.
And as has been discussed many times, JB Hunt plays more games with driver pay than any other company in existence. I don't think ANYONE at JB Hunt, or elsewhere could depend upon any quoted pay scale from ANY source. Why? Because they are changed more times in a week, month, or year, than Tony Shaloub's character in the television show, "Monk" probably changes his underwear.

I just sat here and read all 5 pages of this post and I have come to this conclusion....JBH sucks....I often wandered why they offer so much per mile to start. I also have a friend that applied to one of the internet head hunter sites and is constantly harrassed by jb. I think there should be an addition to the "do not call" rules to include places like this as well as bill collectors. They clearly go way beyond telemarketers ever have in my opinion. I also would like to ask: When you ban someone does this cover there IP also or just the name. I bet them jb rec spend a lot of time in sites like this trying to gather warm bodies when it seems they would use these sites to correct the problems within there companys...just dont make sense to me.....:smt102

I will give you TWO examples of OOIDA dropping the ball.
- When I first bought my truck, I was leased to a small Mid-Michigan Carrier. The CONTRACT specified that I get paid for a load with-in 15 days of the Carrier getting paid, NOT with-in 15 days of providing all the paperwork necessary to bill the load. Many times, I would wait several weeks or even months to get paid for a particular load. If I "needed" paid on a particular load, and the carrier had not been paid by the "shipper" yet, I was forced to "forfiet" up to 18% of the pay to the carrier. It was almost 2 1/2 years before I discovered what Federal law stated regarding this was, and by that time the carrier OWED me over $30k. When I contacted OOIDA for help, their reply was to send a "letter" to the carrier. The carrier mostly ignored the letter from OOIDA and still took almost 6 months to pay me the money they "owed". OOIDA considered their "help" sufficient. And would not even consider "taking on" the carrier for his contract that violated Federal Law.
- One of OOIDA's "advertisers" on their web site, in the LandLine Magazine, on the LandLine web site, was RIGMASTER and RIGMASTER offered a $400 REBATE to OOIDA members. I purchased a RIGMASTER and had it installed. The instalation went bad from the very begining. One of the "switches" in the heating/cooling portion of the unit (under the bunk) caught on fire while STILL IN The Installer's Shop! The Installer only put the fire out, but not before it severely scorched the underside of the bunk. They NEVER repaired the damage, nor did they even clean up the residue from the fire extinguisher. My sinuses burned for weeks from the caustic powder residue. The RIGMASTER never worked right and I had to put it in the shop over 10 times in one year, no-one ever "fixed" it. NOR could they even determine what the problem was. When I FINALLY found someone who thought he could "fix" the problem, the RIGMASTER was OOW (Out of Warrenty) and even though I had a full year of documented attempts to fix or repair an UNWORKING UNIT, RIGMASTER would not cover the repairs under WARRENTY (which were estimated at about $4k!) OOIDA would not help me, nor would they EVEN look at the documents and records I had of the previous attempts over the previous year to get it repaired. The engine would overheat after about 20 minutes use and shut off. I paid over $6k for 350 lbs of dead weight on my truck. Repeated calls to RIGMASTER and especially OOIDA produced no results. OOIDA would not even help me get the damages to my truck repaired. When I finally sold the truck, I left the DEAD rigmaster attached. I had no need for it, it didnt work.
