TT, and all the rest of you ,Thanks for your insight. I am planing on changing my career to Truck Driving, (I've been Doing maintenance for Nursing Homes for over 18 years ) I've always wanted to drive big trucks since I was a kid. I was trying to choose between Schneider and Werner, I'm leaning towards Schneider more, Since I read all the Threads about Werner - and Schneider + I'd appreciate any more Info You VETERANS or Newbies can give. Thanks NEWTRUCKER

I'm interested in Schneider's training program and emailed them for info. They just sent back a form email that, among other things, said that I could earn "Around $38,000" in my first year.
Does anyone know how? Do they drive you into the ground?
Thanks.
Glad to be part of the forum.

Although I have not driven for SNI for seven years I cannot say what you would earn today. Maybe somebody could give you a good answer.
I know that Schneider has been expanding and adding drivers over the past couple years so they could use a few good drivers.. -
Not to put down SNI, because they are one of the better companies out there today but this is a little high for a first year driver out of training IMO.
Maybe you can make that kinda of money there, and I hope you do, but it is doubtful that a "green newbie" is going to make that.
Now with that said, stick it out the first year and you will/should make more than that. Good Luck! -
Thanks to you both. I realize that companies try to put a good spin in their recruiting whether it's about pay or home time. I thought I'd ask and see if there were any newbies getting anywhere near that with Schneider.

hey what's up? i'm thinking about becoming a driver and schneider looks like a good deal what with the training and all but my buddy drives for united and he says everyone he's talked to who works for them says it sucks. i wanted to see if anyone else thinks that and if so why and if not why not. also, i'm married and have a kid so i want to be home as much as possible while still making ends meet and they have the "Home Run Program". if anyone knows anything about this and can tell me why it's a good idea or why it's not i would appreciate it. thanks guys.

its not a bad program. You run a solid two weeks and get a solid week off from what i understand. Pretty sure they try to keep it regular, because they rotate 3 guys through 2 trucks with that program, if that makes sence. you oughta pretty much be able to plan your whole year it sounds like...
I have never run it (yet) i'm a recent graduate of the green bay campus... ready to go on my own this week sometime. -
1. what is the governed speed
2. forced fuel stops?
3. true driver unload rate
4. Paid Lumpers?
5. Detention pay?
6. Time off, guarenteed dates, or when ever they can get you home, and what is the home time rate(how many days do you get)?
7. truck maintnance
8. scales and tolls paid?
I know if i really searched here I could probably find most of this out, but then I would have to sift through all the BS.
I also have heard and read that schneider is a great company to work for. -
