You need to brush up on your reading comprehension, I never said anything about JCT, I said most l/p, and my point was and still is how can you be a "business owner" when you don't own anything? If your happy ,good for you but paying for somebody else's worn out truck is not for me.

Some Megas lease their equipment rather than own it, are they not true businesses because of that?
The equipment and who owns it has nothing to do with owning a business. The equipment is just a means to an end in running any business.
There is more than one path to running a successful business and ownership of equipment is not a requirement to doing so.MachoCyclone, TAfool, Vic Firth and 1 other person Thank this. -

Again, you're entitled to your opinion, but because that's what you think does not mean you're correct.
An individual that runs their own business, makes ALL the decisions concerning how income is earned, is classified as a business owner.
By your logic, a driver that's owns their truck outright (title in hand) and contracts to a company under their authority isn't a business owner either. The difference is that the driver is simply making payments on something, but that company has no say so over that truck acc how it's run. -
I personally believe most trucking companies who lease trucks to drivers and categorize them as "independent contractors" are walking a very thin and gray line. Especially when you consider the "controlling" aspects of the guidelines defined by the IRS.
