Well here I go again,I attent ordertation today at werner and after 2 hours sitting and listening to b.s,I said hell with werner. All but 1 person where all newbies from trucking school. They were all told in school that they will make 34.cpm after training, well during the first brake,I told them its a lie. They look at me like I came from mars or something.I try so hard not to say anything but the truth needs to come out.I was the only one there that knew the real truth.I couldn't just not say notthing even though I souldnt of.My room mate at the hotel told me that he had heard bad things about werner too.He was told he will get 31 cpm after training. So make a long story short,I left after over 2 hours and went home.I walk 1/2 a block and call for a taxi to drop me off at the hotel. From there my dad pick me up.When I got home, wener called 3 times to see what happen,I told them I change my mine and dont call me no more.So Im looking for a better company.I just mite take a refresher program anyway. So my journey continued.

Werner's orientation pales in comperasion to the likes of Swift. Beggers cannot be choosers, and to quit over something that silly seems kind of like you really don't want to work at all.

Good luck finding a job with that attitude in a changing trucking industry where there is an overflow of qualified drivers, a million trucks, and no freight.

    Good luck again!:biggrin_25511:

Or in my husbands words after reading your post.

    Ohhhh waaaahhh

Well I cannot argue with you on your logic, but the lower cpm thing is an industry standard. Ask ANY company what you will make, and then go to orientation and see what you will make. I think only like 2 companies have been the same...

Heck we were supposed to make .42 cents a mile! As for the hiring deal, dunno guess it depends on your prespective. A) The freight shortage may be over by the time training is done. B) 375 bucks a week is better then 0 (technically from what I understand you can remain on the trainer truck indefinantly) c) Not many people are hiring right now. Even Schneider closed up the Orange Boot Camps. Not a good sign for rookies.

What's their name. I am curious because a local company that offers training is a pretty good deal. Yes?

I was driving to the Philly market when I was 18. Wasn't that big a deal. We didn't have 53' trailer then. Would be interesting to go back now.

CTL transportation, they haul hazamt stuff. They have there own school in polk county,I think not sure.I know its east of Tampa. They have a yard/wherehouse in Tampa, that I know. They have there own school and there school is 3 weeks long and free as long you stay employed with then a year. They use to go to roadmasters drivers school to for new drivers, not sure if they still do.Its all local but they do have a otr fleet as well.As far what I know is the local fleet is 12 hours shifts,3 days off.I think the pay is $13 bucks an hour or near there.Per there site, they pay you back for your hazmat endorsment, with is $92 bucks. You also have to have a tanker endorsment as well. But all you need to get into school is your cdl permit, but will need your endorsment after school.Hope this helps.
