Training engineer, when did this site start posts about the rail road
lilillill, ladr, CrappieJunkie and 1 other person Thank this. -
If you live near a training center you'll be home weekly, guaranteed. While you'll loose miles, you'll net an extra $150 each week with a student. You'll really get to know how SNI works and you'll become a better driver.
On the downside you'll spend live loads talking about trip planning. Qualcomm, the atlas, etc. You'll be dealing with some very nice, but rather obtuse individuals. You'll be sharing the truck with another person and need to compromise on temperature, space, etc. Things take forever to do and you lose a lot of flexibility.
If you're patient and enjoy working with people it can be a good move. If you're ever looking to come in house it can be a good move. If you need lots of alone time or can't handle the groundhogs day life that is getting a newbie each week then don't do it. -

Being a training engineer can be rewarding or a headache. If you do decide to do it, do it for the right reasons. Do it because you want to truly help new drivers become successful safe drivers, not for the money. To many drivers do it simply for the money and turn out untrained drivers.
RoadRooster, 91B20H8 and scythe08 Thank this. -
Excuse me while I laugh over the term "training engineer". Just think over the money wasted to come up with such a fancy title.

IAM KING, spyder7723 and passingthru69 Thank this.
