Yes it's still $0.90 a mile plus fuel surcharge. And all JCT drivers will agree that needs to be higher. But like I have said before in the other JCT is bad thread, the drivers here only pay insurance ($158.86 for all), truck payment ($0,23/mile + $120 fixed. For a brand new truck. Mine is $0.22/mile), Qualcomm ($11.53/week), Maintenance escrow (default is $0.05/mile with 5k cap but can be set to whatever the driver wants. Mine is set at $0.10/mile with no cap), ATBS ($19/week I think, can opt out. I did opt out since I do my own accounting), drivers legal ($3.98/week but can opt out), and fuel. Literally everything else JCT pays at their costs not yours.
So, go lease on to that other mileage pay carrier for a $1.10 per mile where you also pay IFTA (usually on your behalf and are you really going to trust them to give the refund if there is one), base plates, trailer rental, and whatever else they can think of the charge you. You won't be making much more than us.
The only people ever see is the rate per mile. They never look at what the carrier is charging them. Then they complain about all these charges when it was right there in front of them before they signed.

… Or less -
I make it work for me, but I live in a small town with a low cost of living and the wife works. I could care less about what others think. I did a lot of research for a year before I made my move.
I gave the honest numbers. Take it or leave it I don't really care. In the end I will have a paid of truck and what I do after I don't know yet.
Like I said before, I understand that a lot of people fail and the ones that make it work take more #### than someone who drives for Swift. How about a glad you are making it work. You never here that. People rather #### on you for your choice.
No one here claims this to be the perfect company or program. Just because others fail don't mean there aren't successes.
Don't be so #### closed minded about everything.Steel Tiger, 88 Alpha, drvrtech77 and 4 others Thank this. -
I agree 100%. The drivers that complain about lease purchase either failed and want no one to succede or never actually lease purchased a truck. I completed two lease purchase contracts in my last six years before retirement. Got clear title in my name both times. I ran it like a business. I did not have a lot of personal debt nor child support responsibilities. I worked for the company, hauled the loads good and bad. I never had a doubt that I would complete the contract on time-both times. I was not able to save the amount needed to buy a truck. Lease purchase gave me the opportunity to become an owner operator - twice.
Steel Tiger, MachoCyclone and ladr Thank this. -
Calm down, just getting a idea about the money for cpm, short term. If it works for you and makes you happy, does it really matter what others think? If it puts what you want in your POCKET is what counts.51.50 and MachoCyclone Thank this. -
But yeah. It works for me and I'm getting what I want out of the deal.51.50 Thanks this. -
The other problem is...too many get into these deals and have no idea how to run a business much less personal finances...if you can't manage your own finances then you will surely fail at this..

I'm assuming a 12,000 mile per month running average. Could be less, could be more. I'm also making an assumption on fuel surcharge and what you're actually paying at the pump and what your truck is averaging per mile. Here's what I came up:
Gross revenue per month $13,800 (based on 0.90 per mile plus 0.25 surcharge=$1.15 a mile)
1. New Truck payment $2,760.00
2. Fixed charge $120.00
3. Insurance $688.39
4. Rand unit $49.96
5. Diesel $4,285.71 (2.50 a gallon @ 7 mpg)
6. DEF $165.00 (2.75 a gallon @ 200 mpg)
7. Reefer fuel $0.00
8. Maintenance Escrow $600.00 (.05 per mile)
Monthly average cost $8,669.07
What's left $5,130.93 (0.43 cpm)
Does that look about right?
I also have a question about their program. What happens (God forbid) something major goes wrong with the truck and it's in the shop for say 2 weeks?
Even though it's under warranty and you wouldn't have to pay for repair costs, you're still losing the revenue needed to meet your monthly fixed operational costs, plus you have no income for your self either. Where does that money come from?
As I said, I'm not trying to be combative, however, these are numbers that guys need to see and understand BEFORE they jump into these lease op programs.Last edited: Apr 16, 2017

As far as major repair, they will setup a rental. Not sure about exact details as I have (knocks on wood) never needed it.Scooter Jones Thanks this.
