So they generally promise one thing and deliver another?

Don't even think about Werner! You will be making a deal with the devil. There are many others like that as well.

I am thinking of getting my CDL next spring and have been learning as much as i can before.I have contacted my insurance lady and asked questions about driving records she said she could only get them back 7 years. I have talked to some people at driving schools they said my two DUIs wouldnt be a problem they where both over 16 years ago that was also my last tickets nothing since not even parking. So my question is can Trucking companys go back longer than a insurance company to get driving records because of DOT or is it just you say you have had two they wont look at you.And if they cant go back and check your record past what insurance does why even tell them about having two or more if there that old. Most the companys i have seen say none in last 5 to 7 years.

you ABSOLUTELY want to disclose your past record, even over 16 years old. i think they will disqualify you from going to canada (that's what i heard from my first company anyways) and my second job would not send me to canada either (didn't want to go up there anyway). and my duis were over 18 years old at the time.
anyways, if you don't tell and it comes up at a later date, you're in TROUBLE!!!! -
I have to disagree, if they are over 7 years old then I wouldn't say a word. You have paid your price for your wrong doings. As long as you wasnt charged with a fellony or anything I would fill out some applications and see what happens. I know you can get some things taken off your record through a lawyer. I have wanton endagerment charge that was dismissed "no true bill" from a few years ago. It was a self defence of a third party. I pulled a gun on a guy that was beating his sister with a claw hammer. Took us all to jail till things got sorted out. It has kept me from getting some jobs, for just a little money i can have it removed.
Anyways, all the apps i filled out in the past asked if any DUI's in the past 5,7,or 10 years. If is 10 years and 1 day, then I wouldn't say a word unless asked about it. -
Thank you all for replying.I have went to the courts and got a record check, both state and county.I had a dui in 1988 and one in 1999.But im still finding it hard to get someone to trust me and give me a job.I went and got my cdl today.I am ready to learn to be real truck driver,i just have to find someone to hire me.All of you young people remember, your past WILL catch up to you someday and cause you grief.Stay safe and keep trucking.

It sounds like there is more to your background than you are telling us. A DAC report can only maintain such data pursuant to the federal laws (the Fair Credit Reporting Act). Under the FCRA data may only be maintained for a 7-year period. This makes me question your truthfulness and/or completeness in your statement.
From a retired federal DOT official -
It is more than 7 years. When I looked for another company recently, they received Dac information from 2000.
I know of other truckers that have DAC even prior to that.
