I am curious if International will continue to make the 9200/9400 series alongside the Prostar? Also will Freightliner continue to produce the Classic/ FLD models in 2009. I ask as I have seen few new 9200/9400 models for sale on truckpaper and the such. Also if Freightliner discontinues production of the FLD/Classic, what will replace that model?

International stopped producing the 9400 at the beginning of last year and the 9200 will be discontinued next year.

Freightliner will stop production of the FLD/Classic in 2009 and the Coronado will be replacing it.

Will the coronado have the same 48in sleeper as the FLD and the 56in of the classic?

The Coronado is based off the Century/Columbia.

There are quite a few Coronados out there now, they have the FLC frame like the Columbia/Century, and they turn pretty short for a forward axle tractor.

I'd want to sit in one as compared to the FLD and Classic, the Columbia wasn't that bad, I haven't driven a Century more than about 1200 miles a long time ago,I have more miles on several International trucks than that.

I'll never buy a Freightliner or other Daimler product . Daimler has built new plants in Mexico to build Western Star and Freightliner . They are stopping production of Sterling . They have put thousands of Americans out of work and don't deserve our money .

Another question in relation to this thread: How do the FLD's/Classics of Freightliner and 9200/9400I series of intl hold up to their replacements. In other words, are they better or worse than the replacements.

From my company's experience I see it like this:

the 9400....ProStar is at least as good all around. A little heavier, but not by much. I like what I've seen of the ProStar so far.

the FLD was replaced by the Century & Columbia....a good upgrade
the Century & Columbia is being replaced by the Cascadia...a GREAT product. I must admit, they did a fantastic job with that CAscadia...and the DD15 makes all the better.

Overall, I'd say all the truck companies have upgraded their products in the past couple of years. Competition does that sort of thing.

I appreciate everyones honesty. I see more Prostars driving for Walmart and other companies and I am impressed. I even more impressed by the looks of the cascadia. Very good looking rig. TBH, its still rare I see a Coronado; however they do look good.

the ProStar has been in production about 1 year longer than the Cascadia. The most recent purchase by Walmart was all Cascadias/DD15. I'm starting to see more Cascadias on the road now.

both trucks are good...I personally like the DD15 and it's only available in the Cascadia and other Daimler products. The fuel economy is outstanding. The ISX is good but not as good.
