Where in Florida are you? The Tampa area has several small 1099 companies that would probably hire you.
BigTennOTR, Dave_in_AZ and slim shady Thank this. -
Flip this and put yourself on the other side making the hiring decisions! Examine your record. Would you hire this person? You should go and see what the average preventable accident costs the typical carrier. The carriers pay millions upon millions every year to pay for these needless accidents. I don't want to kick a person when they are down but sometime a person needs to do a self analysis. You have way too many accidents in a short period of time. And you have not told us what those two incidents were. If you do find another driving job PLEASE PLEASE be more careful and deliberate with how you handle that rig. I suspect you are 1 maybe 2 more preventable accidents from major problems.FireLotus, spyder7723, Lepton1 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I stress to new drivers that all they have is their safety record. That's the money maker. Take that extra 5 minutes backing in, open up that following distance, etc,.

I'm glad all of you who hire drivers can chime in and tell these guys that their CSA and other records matter, when they don't.
I don't use Dac or look at anything other then their MVR, my insurance company doesn't care about the other stuff, they want to know what legal citations were issued under the uniformed driving laws of the states.
Most other owners I know are like me, we do a good thorough background check for criminal activities and other issues and the MVR, the other stuff is there but who cares.
So I will say this again, the 7 points isn't the reason you wouldn't get hired.Mattflat362, Heathar, REO6205 and 4 others Thank this. -

Another issue with owners is the ones that lease. Because in just about all the cases the leasing company is the Authority holder and that truck is operating under their insurance ( this cost comes out of the settlement). I know a guy that has some trucks leased right now that had to pull a driver off because the carrier would not accept him even though the driver worked for the guy that actually owns the truck.
I was in the Hospital recently. I was there for almost 2 weeks. Then followed with almost 8 weeks of followup aftercare. I have epilepsy and had a serious relapse. When I finally got to my computer I had over 600 emails from drivers begging me to help them. I think this is why I stay in such a foul mood all the time and have no patience with drivers that can't go more then 6 months without hitting something or getting a speeding ticket and losing their jobs. You read thread after thread in here about low wages, bad equipment, old tractors etc etc people calling the carriers names calling the recruiters names etc etc, but fail to mention the almost daily wanton destruction of Tractors, and other fixed objects around docks. these things costs the carriers MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of dollars each and every year, but some want to cry because a driver that has more preventable accidents then carters has liver pills but can't get a driving job! #### I wonder why?DoubleO7, MachoCyclone, Lord Pablo and 5 others Thank this.
