The DOT is looking for a good ROI, they see someone that looks like they have their act together & know they are going to have to work harder.

Easier just to find someone that advertises their faults & build upon the easy visual hits.

DDlighttruck Taped strap ends look nice. Aren't you sort of locked in if you want to ratchet more? I use 2" pony clamps to hold my loose ends. They are quick, easy, can be used over and over. One drawback is that a jack wad can steal them if they are so inclined. I think I paid less than $3 for mine at Home Depot. I try to find clamps with orange tips so I can maybe see them more quickly after unstrapping and picking up.

    Oxbow Thanks this.

What I do when I use straps is leave a little extra loose, so if needed to get it snugged a bit. Just click the racket and snug it up. No need to untape

That's as far as that winch track goes. Great planning.

How the F do you secure something round?

Leave out Sunday for Minnesota. Definately adding a couple chains before I leave.

I'll have to take pictures but the way I do the straps and tape there is room to snug it up. Obviously not a foot of strap but enough for a few clicks.

My right shoulder is tired just looking at all those straps.

Got to love how the winches always seem to have stops or end of track 1 slot short of where you want them.

I've removed a few stop bolts on our flatbeds. They were stopping winches from traveling over tires even with a foot of room for them.

As for your round thing there. You could also try crossing the straps over the top.

That's on the other side of it. But yes an X could work too. I think the way I've got it will work. Just another day going "how the F am I gonna..."
    Thanks!
