They require 1 year, if you have less than a year they make you go out with a trainer for a week or two. The good part is they pay you full pay. Carol is the recruiter and is an ex-driver as well. Give her a call.

I have never understood why trucking companies say average pay somewhere between x and y per mile.

or why companies say drivers average $1000 per week when the odds are generally closer to $800 because of all the add ons to reach a decent CPM rate and delays at shipper/receivers.

Why not just break the pay down to a weekly base salary so a person could actually have a dependable budget to raise a family on.

Put the pressure on the office to keep the driver moving enough to earn the base salary every week.

    Knucklehead and Dharok Thank this.

i hear what your saying, but comp
Great point! I think it's because there are so many different types of drivers. Some can run 3000 miles a week and some can't...if you set a weekly salary and the office puts pressure on a driver to keep moving they create a safety and liability issue.

It would be nice if someone could figure out a way that is more balanced but for now it's how we all get paid!

Until then, I'm going to keep the left door closed and the wheels turning, not hit anything and avoid DOT...I'm going to keep working to make as much $$$$ as they will let me!!!

There is a trend starting in the industry where drivers are guaranteed a set amount of miles per week, 2500 being the average base used.

Drivers are paid additional pay for mileage over the 2500 at the regular rate.

2500 miles per week guarantee @.44 cpm is $1100 per week.

If the company does not have a load base that averages 2500 and only averages 2000 then the driver is working for $880 per week.

That is a big difference in pay for the amount of time spent away from home.

OTR work means you are away from home.

Mileage is the base as you say, but it is on the companies seeking drivers to have the skill set and confidence to generate the mileage.

And yes, I understand the take home pay earnings are being paid after the deductions for medical costs and 401k matches.

RG Transport has an $875 weekly guarantee in case you have a bad week, of course it has "qualifiers" such as must be available for dispatch, must be on time (no fault of the driver), etc...they also pay a set lump sum amount on all loads under 250 miles, congestion pay, fuel bonus and 4 CPM safety bonus, obviously no guarentee on the safety bonus although if you do your job it pretty easy to obtain.

Most of all they are human and treat drivers pretty good!
