No one answered my question, just TROLLed my post.
1. I served 23 years in the army, fought in 2 wars ( Desert storm and Iraq ) and retired.
2. There are plenty of people out there "Milking" the government, I am not one of them.
3. I have money in my Post 9/11 GI bill. I drive a truck, I don't go to college, So an Apprenticeship Program is the only way I can receive this funds.
4. The company I work for now only has a 12 month program, I am looking for an OTR, pet friendly, company that has a 24 month program.
Trolls be gone..
If I could get a Veteran to answer that would be great. Thanks

What purpose does the apprenticeship program do for you when you are just going to be a driver?
Do they teach you business and management skills for ownership or do they teach you logistics skills for other things?
Not complaining but it seems there is a disconnect between the reality of the industry and what is being done to learn skills that are easily gotten by just being a driver - assuming that this is only for driving. -
Ridgeline. If you had money sitting in an account, and all you had to do was meet the work requirement and fill out some paperwork. Would you want to receive the money you have earned, or just let it go back to the government?

Now my question, isn't the GI bill like a scholarship? Why use that money when you can just start working? -
To me that's my tax money and I care about where it goes as any citizen should care. If someone like you is to take it for an education, great, have at it, or if someone needs it to cover their bills for something else, then OK you've got my support but the problem to me is that there seems to be a disconnect between the company/government reasoning and reality.
We don't need 12 or 24 month apprenticeship programs, we need better testing, better vetting and firmer entry level qualifications to weed out the crap drivers. We don't have a driver shortage, we have professionalism shortage on the driver's end and on the company end we have a funding shortage. Will this apprenticeship program teach you the business skills needed to move up, or will it teach you how the system works so you can move laterally or will it teach you management skills to make it into the ownership world?
I doubt it does, I have to assume that it is just a driver's program that the company makes money allowing you to drive which doesn't do a thing for either you or me.

SO let me get this straight,
This money is there to supplement for ... what?
If someone gets hired, than isn't that enough for them?
Or does the company get a share of the money by lowing the wages they gives the company a break for the hiring of the vet hence instead of doing the right thing for the vet, they are doing the right thing for the company? -
23 years, sounds like a nice pension to boot. Can you not take those funds and do an online degree while driving. My Dad years ago used his GI bill funds and just kept going to College even though he was working.
Or do you think you need the money more -
TMC and Schneider both offer the 24, I'm assuming many others do as well.
I'm not sure if the VA will allow you to transfer benefit though, as the 6/12/24 programs often have different monthly payouts.
