But it begs the question, are the short moves still paying well and have open appt times? Nothing would suck to take a 130 mile run that has a 2 days later appt.

 

Yea it would be challenging for sure. I don't think he could get home every night, but certainly 2-3 nights a week prob. The other issue is traffic. He'd be constantly fighting that which would chew his clock up.

 

I certainly know, I did many years of Chicago local work.

 

Chicago traffic is awful with the construction right now. I've been staying out of there for the time being.

 

The choice program is not set up for someone, who wants to be home every night. Those who tried failed. If you live near an Oc. You could get by the house on the weekends.

 

I use to deliver scrap to this Paper mill in VA where I would see an IC driver, said he use to run a lot of paper and scrap between VA, WV, MD, & PA and be home a few nights a week. Said he use to bring in about 1800 net but had his own truck...

 

I know plenty of choice drivers who get home every night.

Good freight market + no truck payment = win.

 

I don't. Must be pulling containers. I could be home every night if I want to run for 1.10.

 

No containers. Like I said, good freight market + no truck payment. These guys run within 250 miles, run the same loads because in the market those loads are always there.

 

What area are they running? Maybe im doing something wrong here.
