Actually someplace like gamestop is going to be UPS or Fedex. The product they sell doesn't weigh a whole lot, and it's not particularly bulky.
Back when I was working retail at a computer store almost all of our product came in from UPS, Fedex, or even USPS. One every 6 months or so we would get 2-4 pallets of computer cases from a random ltl company, but everything else was UPS type.MondoburgerHD, crb and tscottme Thank this. -
Hauled a load or two to gamestops hq/dc when I was with swift.
First load I figured was a call of duty load. No way of knowing for sure but I got loaded at Activision in Fresno and it was all hush hush plus it was about the time they would start before the November release and the bills went any help. Just said dvdroms and promotional material
I think the stores are probably fedex saw about 5 fedex trucks there when I was getting unloaded -
I'll take my paper rolls vs any kind of electronics. I like sleeping at night and not having to worry about getting robbed.
MondoburgerHD, mindes and passingthru69 Thank this. -
Electronics is a no no. Stay away.
Ive nursed a couple of those loads, If you are sitting casing the place after discovering gamestop's distribution chain and sitting there to eyeball the trucks coming and going... it's classic for pre-attack behavior. You might have to spend some time being questioned in a room somewhere with heavy law enforcement as to why you are sitting there. Simple curiosity such as you are asking does not fly.
Here is a secret.
Video games come into a game shop via UPS. Brown truck pulls up, man walks in with a cart stacked of small packages. Done. Delivered. Easy.
People get funny when electronics and other very high value loads go onto the trailer. They get to where Ive been treated pretty rudely. As a necessary evil since someone has to drive the truck. With their precious cargo aboard.
They really should loosen up and get a life. Insurance takes care of the loss should it be burned, hijacked etc. I prefer not to haul electronics. Another cargo I hated hauling was actually lipstick and makeup products. There is or was a pair of warehouses not far from the Rock where those loads went to very ultra secured facilities. It's crazy.MondoburgerHD, Lepton1 and Boattlebot Thank this. -

Those were my rare high-value assignments w. Werner. Always got the run down: Drive x# of hours before stopping, watch for tailers, park in a well lit area preferably with other trucks and keep the lips zipped. -
So you want to learn who is doing what where?
Sounds really not a good idea to ask because of the highjacking rates are up, especially with untraceable products like CDs, DVDs and games.
Just saying. -
And thats even if you can find the place.
Activision was high security with thE docks where they open your doors inside and there was no signs. They didn't even want to tell me it was Activision when I was just trying to make sure I was in the right place.
Gamestop was a little nicer. They were in the back woods with nothing around 15ft tall wall with barbed wire, armed security and just a small hard to see sign just plain black letters "Gamestop distribution" not there logo or anything and the sign was small as hell. They wernt as rude but they werent exactly plesent either. Love there stores but not a fan of delivering stuff to emx1Heavy Thanks this.
