This topic has been touched on before if you could successfully ague that your truck is your home and you are just protecting it you'll be fine, however state laws on this matter can be quite complicated.

Here in MD where our CCPs are all but impossible to get, we have what's called long gun open carry. That is perfectly legal except in the subdivisions who's laws predate that one. Nobody ever does it though.

I guess I thought firing it inside the cab would be unlikely. Could happen I guess. Maybe load some custom .410 loads for that. I have to believe any thief that's knocking on the driver's door that is greeted with the barrel of a shotgun would scram. If not I wear earplugs anyway. :)

The problem with that is you need to be pretty certain the person at the door is up to no good and means you harm. Sticking a gun in a harmless persons face just makes more people support more gun laws. Its hard enough to convince people that guns owners arent all just trigger happy nutjobs as it is. Certainly don't need to give them real reasons to think that. Like poking your barrel in the face of people who mean you no harm.

Is not a matter of the noise, it's the over pressure from the size of the shotgun blast that will blow your drums out. There's a reason why people were cleared from the deck of a battleship when the guns fired, the over pressure just being in the general vicinity would blow your ear drums

Anyone who does anything like that at the slightest provocation has no business carrying a firearm.

Arm yourself with knowledge, first and foremost.

    Better judged than carried.

Agreed...better to be judged than carried. Bit make sure you judge well before you are judged. Goes easier on you that way.

I believe for that to apply it must be considered a legal "domicile" a vehicle on public property is not... Now while at the truck stop it may very well be considered a domicile... For instance a RV parked at a RV park is considered a domicile but while travelling down the road it is considered a recreational vehicle or RV

P.s. I can't quote sources as this is information I read a long time ago and may or may not be fact... I am sure if your really interested you could do some Google searching on the matter

The commercial plates on a truck void the domicile defense.
