Get rid of 30. No hos would be crazy, not only would stupid guys ruin it and abuse it like they've done and do. But most importantly hos controls dispacthers too. I mean it at least helps.... a little. Yes I do hate not having that extra 10 min sometimes but you gotta do what ya gotta do.

We never observed HOS in Canada until about 1987 and it was not a problem. HOS has not reduced accidents,, just more paperwork IMO

We can't regulate ourselves, just look at a truck stop, we can't be trusted to park correctly, put trash in a trash can, or pee in a bathroom.

Driving since 1998, so I've been under the 1962 rules and on.

I'm all for elogs. You drivers that cry and whine about them only want paper so you can lie and cheat your ### off.

I think a fair and reasonable HOS is 14 on duty, 12 of which may be driving, 30 min break before 8th hour required but may extend 14. 70/7 with only a 24 hour restart.

Too many super truckers thinking they can maintain driving 24 hours a day. Until they mess up and kill someone.

As for the break? To hell with that 8 hour break. Every company I worked for under that rule jumped all up and down on the driver if they dared to take 8.5 hours off. I'm human. I wanna stop for the day, get some food, unwind and relax, maybe laundry, maybe paperwork, maybe phone calls, maybe video games... who cares, then get a good night's sleep, then get up and shower and eat a good meal before prepping myself for the day. 10 hours barely allows that. Fortunately I'm one of those drivers that's always on-time, and have proven myself. So if I want more off I don't get bothered. So my vote is to keep it at the 10 required off.

I could put up with most of the rest of the new rules if they brought back the 4/4 split sleeper. It was an indispensable tool to use against traffic backups and shipper/receiver delay.

I agree we should just get a 14 hour daily on-duty to use as we see fit. There were many days I was well rested in good weather, and could have chewed up a few hundred more miles, but I had to stop after 10 hours driving.

That would be too easy! Seriously though some drivers are assertive enough and would be forced by dispatch to push it.
The 14 hours clock race is really dangerous though both to drivers and public.

I started in 96. So I learned under the old rules. Keep the 14, if ya gotta give em something. Do away with the 30 min deal, waste of time. Forget a reset, just run recap. Hell take a week off if you want all your hours back. Bring back the 8 off duty, that's cumulative using either 2, 4,6, or 8 hours off. However you want to do it. This 14 hour countdown is just going to increase accidents and already overcrowded roads and parking situations. Just my .02
