It was pretty easy, since I'm on the phone with hubby. Very convenient that I popped back in here while on the phone with him!

I guess the way I see it, running up north anyway, if they want to see my idle time at or below 30%, then they better keep me running 70% of the time. I will not freeze my butt off for any company!

Maybe they don't want to spend the big bucks on APU's, but they could at least equip them with Webasto heaters. We had those on our trucks when I drove for NTB in Michigan... they worked pretty good unless you used it for longer than about eight hours (it'd kill the batteries).

Or... wait... i just thought of something! Tell him to jack up the drive axle and leave it in 1st gear. Fire it up and presto... no more idle time! They might notice a small increase in out-of-route miles however. LOL... or the fact that he never seems to stop driving.:biggrin_25525:

Well said Roadmedic!! These companies are making profits. Why you ask. Trucks getting turned down to 62 mph, drivers lowering their idle times and lower fuel costs. Now that things are slowing and we're sitting more idle times are going to be up. Come on companies give us a break.

And they keep hiring more drivers so the miles drop more. Yep, makes sense! NOT!!!!

hell, my idle time in the cooler months has always been low., i dont crank the truck unless its 30 or below, i love sleeping in cold!! helps with my sinus problems. i am just worried about summer here at arnold since they have no idle mgmt system. our goal is 40% that will be hard for me come summer.

My hubby likes it a little cooler than I do, but 40 or lower, and at some point he does end up turning the truck on for a little while. He ended up doing that last night.
