Really, you need to send out warning messages about my hours running low. Good thing since apparently I'm too stupid to notice that little clock in the upper right corner.

The number of HOS violations we have are staggering. Between those who don't understand the HOS, those who do and don't give a fig, those who have no idea how to trip plan, and those who completely cover the QC after dark (I did when I started out, there are others on here who have recently stated they do as well) Schneider has to do something curtail the number of violations and the number of towing to safe/legal.
The smart thing would be to reduce the amount of Computer Based Training and multiple guess assessment during initial training and replace it with actual training by an instructor. That way I don't spend an hour the first day and a half hour the second day covering the HOS. Or 4 hours introducing Work Flow and trip planning. Or 3 hours introducing the atlas plus an hour on Navigo/phone apps.
In other words fully 1/7 of the instructional time a trainee spends OTR is spent introducing soft skills. Skills that need to be taught in a classroom first, or at least not in an environment that time is limited.
On the other hand almost half of my time is spent working on shifting, backing, and enlarging perspective/frame of reference. Things that they should have before getting a CDL. -
If they would raise hiring standards they wouldn't have these issues..

Kinda like when there was actually a Schneider steering the ship.

Hey all. Would you recommend starting with Schneider? I live about 50 miles from the Portland OC. They want me to fly to Dallas to do a refresher. Start orientation in Phoenix and commit to three months (for the refresher). Judging from others' posts looks like they don't give out automatics though.

I and most of the people in my orientation (over a year ago) got an auto. But some didn't.
I wouldn't commit to any time personally, but I don't have anything bad to say about schneider. I'm still here and enjoying it.Rocknroller4 Thanks this. -
