Everyone's tripping because they didn't know coop but I think this is the more surprising part after 7 months

There are many reasons that a person HAS to violate and it isn't their fault.

One that comes right to mind is being sent to a shipper that doesn't have over night parking, being at the shipper for longer than expected, and being kicked off the shippers property when loading is done. It's happened to me.

Another one is being stuck on a road that is hit by black ice and having to travel 5 mph to a safe haven. Easily makes a person go over on their hours.

The list is actually quite long when you start to think about it.

I realize you can have special notes attached to your logs for these things, but saying that it's ALWAYS the drivers fault is completely false. I would say the exact opposite...most of the time not the drivers fault.

The HOS rules are way too rigid given the nature of truck driving.

Yeah they do now. They didn't a couple of years ago, but they started checking elogs since elogs are becoming more common.

You just wait until they federally mandate elogs. It's coming.

Except you are wrong it's not the drivers fault on both examples.
1st, there is no such thing as a safe haven in regards to hos, so you are already spewing uninformed b.s.
2nd, both example are the drivers fault. The first example is easy. If you are not loaded by the 13th hour, call dispatch and put a fire under them. If you are still not loaded at the 13.5th hour leave.
2nd example is mostly drivers pushing their hours trying to get to the next truck stop and fail. If it truly is a storm that the driver could not have known about, there is the adverse driving exemption one can use.

Wile I am sure there are example of violating hos is not the drivers fault, I am having a hard time thinking of any. About the only thing I can think of something like blowing a tire 5 minutes from your planned stop and the company refuses to pay for a tow. Everything else I can think of I can also see why it's the drivers fault.

Wrong. Its built right into elogs. Forced to leave shipper/cons flag. If they overload you and you have to get reworked, not your fault. I was once stuck on i40, all exits closed, being forced to move at 6 mph for 70 miles. You dont know what your talking about. I could actually go on, but im on my cellphone. Nobody is pulling out of a dock half loaded to leave because of hos. Period.

What do you do if you are running low on your hours and you hit an unexpected traffic backup that will make you run over? Lets say you have an hour left to drive and you planned to pull over soon but boom you hit a major traffic accident where you don't move an inch.

I don't think you understand what i meant.
Like i said for example you have 1 hour left to drive but you are in grid lock traffic not moving and your clock runs out while sitting in the traffic what do you do?
