I was in there this morning finishing chaining and stuff before he even came in. Didn't come in until almost 8:30 to get his trailer and leave, gate opened at 5am. There was room outside gate in numerous areas to park with his trailer also....MJ1657, Ruthless, passingthru69 and 7 others Thank this. -

I had to wait 10 hours and watched them balance it. It's pretty much like balancing a car tire. Just a bit larger and more precise.
The smaller one that is attached via a gear on the end spins closer to 4,000 RPM
They have one of these big ones in their shop right now that crashed at operating speed. Over 100,000 lbs came to a dead stop in under 60 seconds. Bearing failure. Those blades on it contacted the stationary blades inside the turbine. When they broke off the rotor they went through the casing made of 4+" thick steel and out the roof of the building.
That was the load I almost went to California to get when it happened. Was an emergency shut down. I really wanted to see the damage to the building and the turbine casing. The blades on both the rotor and the interior of the casing are bent and twisted as if made of tin foil not hardened steel alloy.
Can't imagine the sound it made when it failed.SAR, kylefitzy, 4mer trucker and 14 others Thank this.
