So you assume someone is going to be unsafe because of the elog? Thats no different than assuming someone running paper is running non stop on 2 hours of sleep.

I wouldn't count on Trump doing anything. He is gonna want to get re-elected, and most of the American people think truck drivers are pill popping dangerous outlaws. Public image is everything.

My position is it should be a choice. Some people feel that it is a good tool to prove detention time, and it is easy to use. Others feel that it is expensive, doesn't improve safety, is intrusive and eliminates rounding, which makes it inflexible. 8:57 is 9:00 to me, just like 56 mph is 55 mph to most people.

Just because I don't like it, who am I to tell anyone that they shouldn't like it?

My position is, i don't really care one way or the other. But i get a kick out the arguments against it. If you want to get the law repealed you need an argument a politician can get behind, and no politician is getting behind the argument 'its gonna cost me money cause it won't let me cheat'.

I'll bet every penny I have he's not running legal
Right now. That's all I'm saying.
He's twisting and bending them hours and to get the job done.
Done it myself a 1000 times.
I don't see any owner operators rushing to get
    Hooked up to e- logs.
For the life of me I can't see why.

Then receiver does not get his product till 11-12. You explain why the product did not get there at 8 and maybe next time they will figure out the parking situation.

To all of you who have never ran elogs. You can have all the plans you want, it will cost you loads and money. @Western flyer is right, I went on them in January and I have had to pass up some very good loads because of them.
It probably doesn't affect Spyder nearly as much in the flatbed world, but in the van and reefer world with strict appointments it is a Pain and will cost you loads/money.

One thing is for sure, instead of being smelly after 5 days, Boy Wander will smell better. He will have plenty of time to shower laying around for 10 hrs every day.

I will add, I have slowed down as I have gotten older, out of debt, kids grown etc. so it doesn't bother me as much, I don't want to run like I once did.

Who isn't, and who wouldn't at least to some extent, if using paper logs? It would be like expecting a waiter to report all his tips to IRS. Even with e-logs, I don't believe that there is even a 1% of those who would go to their sleeper and obediently stay in in there for 8 hours straight when in no feel for sleeping (which, by definition, is a cheating too). or they would not log all their time at the shipper/receiver as 15 minutes and all the rest in the sleeper when there is only 2 hours before hitting 70 hrs limit.
Sorry to hear that you are already shackled like that.

Trust me, there are plenty of strict appointment times in the flat bed world. The crane doesnt care if im two hours late, but that's cause he will be handing me an invoice for 200 an hour.
