Good luck with that. He will set you out by the fence and say "You missed your appointment we will work you in sometime today". By the time he works you in woops, your 14 is up. Time for a 10 hr break, missed a load because I can't move.

It will be a game changer for the whole industry! Shippers and Receivers have a lot to learn also.

The older I got the more of a pus)sy Iv'e become. Fearing the IR cameras, leaving the trail on the tollways with my I-pass and using a fuel card instead of cash, made me less daring to "correct" my logs, but don't get me wrong...I could not care less if the term "cheating" is used. I still hope for the last minute change, but there is too much invested already in that mandate, politically and all, to be so hopeful. I am even worried that comes December, and even those cheap e-logs kits will be in shortage at TA's and Pilots when everybody rushes to buy them.

I agree, I pulled flats for many years. But be honest, you pulled reefer. You know it would cost you loads pulling reefer, because of stupid tight appointment times. I know you are like me, nowadays you don't run hard at all, so it doesn't really affect you that much.

Yep. A smart operator is getting one set up now, even if he waits till jan 1st to turn it on.

The wife rides with me full time now days. I am going to teach her to drive, get her license, so any load will be fair game. We certainly won't run like a full blown team, but that will give me a huge advantage with the ELOG situation.

I honestly don't think it would cost me money. I would get pickier about what customers i'd service. I've had to do that with the flat, there are a few steel mills i will only go into when the rate is high enough to absorb the 6 hours i know I'll be held up there. It would be an adjustment no doubt, But just like i adjusted to them with a flat, i could adjust to them with a van or reefer.

As far as not working hard, we haven't talked in a while. When rates were down the last couple years i ran a lot less. But now that the market has turned I've been running my butt off, and will continue to do so as long as my phone is ringing and im hearing "i have this load of x picking up at A and going to B. What will it take to get it done". It really is a name your price market right now if you have a reputation of good service.

I fully agree, you can earn a living on elogs. But it will definitely change the way you do it. I am like you, certain shippers/products I just will not haul anymore because I know they will waste too much of my day.

Never had that happened to me, if the load is going to a busy place, like distribution center for example, I just don't book it. But for many people who get their loads from dispatchers, it will be a headache

It has to be a bit of variety, if we can't participate a lil bit, the thread is gonna be just a BoyWander diary ;)
