While having a mechanic look at my truck I got to inquiring about gliders. He told me to avoid the Fitzgeralds if I was serious about buying one because he had seen their workmanship more than he cared to mention. I'm not sure how many are around the Gillette, WY area, but his guys had to overhaul three with under 100k on the odometer. He said the internals on one looked like someone got in there with a dremel tool.

That is why one would be best to get one from an actual OEM dealership that does gliders. A lot more leverage on warranties and such with them than some third party outfit. Fitz is just a middle man, not a OEM certified dealership. They just got a lot of notice because of being discussed on XM radio and such. It sure wasn't because of a stellar reputation.

Makes you wonder how the Nikola One is going to turn out seeing as Fitz will be building them......
Sublime Thanks this. -
But only assembly. Fitz wouldn't be rebuilding or overhauling anything. That is what they seem to not get right.

I looked at a 2016 Fitzgerald with 34k miles on it. Called them for the warranty left. Told me warranty was not transferable on a Fitzgerald built engine. That should tell you something.

Just finished reading this entire thread. VERY INTERESTING reading. now, for a little information about Detroit engines & most older engines: EXCEPT for rare occasions where there are NIB parts (refer to the word RARE), many "wear" parts (heads, cranks, injectors, etc..) are ALL REMANED because there are NO NEW parts available. Example--Detroit has not made NEW injectors for the 12.7 Series 60 since production ended in 2007??... Same thing goes for the 14 liter engine (both nonEGR & EGR versions). Ditto for CAT 3406E/6NZ or Cummins N14 engines. The dirty little secret is the EPA forbids engine makers from producing NEW injectors. Having a "custom" built set of injectors still uses old units built to a custom spec They (EPA) is also quietly working (before Trump was elected) on mandating all these pre-2008 engines be banned from "use or repair" after 2020. These older engines are a big target for Government to take action aganist because they don't help with the current narrative that all the "NEW" EPA mandated engine "TECHNOLOGY" is the way of the future and these old, dirty engines must go!!!

Guess I'll be headed to prison in 2020 then. Its ok, I'm getting old anyway.

Not going to happen

I don't think it'll happen either, but nobody thought the Supreme Court would green light the illegalities of Obamacare either....
