Why are alot more truck catching fire in wrecks in general and not just tankers?? One reason and one reason alone. That dam DPF. Diesel fuel ignites around 400 degrees and that DPF runs that at a min and over 1000 during a regen. So thanks a lot hippies.

They run the same systems basicly.magoo68 Thanks this. -

I dont follow anything in Europe sorry.
-
And I'm not so sure our HD truck emissions systems are running on the exact same designs as Europe's.
-
Here is what i know.
Haz Mat....there is a difference in electrical systems.
European Haz Mat trucks have a upgraded system required by law.
You cannot run Haz Mat tankers with a standard truck.
But i cannot see that making the difference.
Most trucks run disks in Europe so there you could have less heat stored but i doubt that causes the fires.
Then there is location off exhaust.
DPF and SCR system are mostly sold as 1 box aldough you can buy them in a 2 box configuration.
Fueltanks are right next to those systems so no major difference there.
The only big difference is in the fact that there are no stacks on EU trucks.
Since DPF and SCR are in use,the weedburner exhaust has changed to a diffuserdesign.
So still to the ground but not a single tube, more like many tubes with directed exhaustflow.
And for Haz Mat trucks heatshields at certain places around the exhaustbox.
Maybe there is the difference? -
@NorthernMechanic you have any views on this?
G13Tomcat Thanks this. -
When I worked on trucks in Europe they didn't have a 7th Injector in the exhaust, which i think, is responsible for creating all the necessary heat to burn the soot. They just injected the DEF. But that was like ten years ago so it may have changed now.

Then they got the same as the US.86mechanic Thanks this.
