I got stopped at a scale in Riviera, TX. I didn't show a pretrip on my logs (forgot) but the rest of the log was filled out. He tried to shut me down for 8 hours in a truck stop parking lot in a day cab. The owner of the company called the local judge to ask why they would do something like that and he could not answer. My bossed asked if it was in the best intrest of the public saftey to hold a driver for 8 hours in a DAY CAB truck when I had started at 4am. He said it was not his responsibility, and I could get a hotel. Boss asked how I was suposed to get to a hotel. Same responce.

After about an hour the scale closed an I left. My boss hired tixnix to take care of the ticket.

If you can be anything else in life you can always be a cop.

8 hours wouldnt make you legal anyway, what a dumb arse...

nobody has any business driving 30 hours straight, not even in a car.

There is no way whatsoever to log line 2 on a daycab. However, ever noticed werner tractors with coffin sleepers and no passenger seat? These are used on certain dedicated accounts where the driver is home most nights, but they dont want to get him a hotel on other nights....

so make him sleep in a coffin, yeah, great move LOL. and then we have drivers in full sleeper trucks running "net ops" (home every night barring extreme weather)

I don't know if hotel is less or expensive. But that's why most of them that has cabs to sleep in, that's where most of them sleep. I love sleeping in my cab it's comfortable and I am never going to sleep at a hotel. My sleeping cab is way better than a hotel. So, truck drivers that sleep hotels. Well, have fun spending your money.

    You don't log sleeper.

You get hotel rooms, off duty logging. Every night when your 11 hours is up.

Sleeping in your day cab stretched out is not a DOT approved method of rest. Others might challenge me using chapter and verse but that is what I understand. If the truck you drive does NOT have a sleeper on it... you aint logging *&^% as sleeper.

I don't particularly like it when dead threads resurrect themselves. But it is what it is.

The DOT doesn't get to approve or disapprove of our method of rest. The laws discussed in this thread were accurate at the time it was started but the rules changed a few years ago and you CAN log off duty in a parked cmv now. Hotel receipts no longer needed. You still can't log sleeper berth without a legal sleeper berth however.

I've been noticing that guy has resurected quite a few threads that have been dead for 10 years in last day or two.

Many forums close dead threads after 4 years. It helps move things along. Anyone interested can always read em, but when they ressurect from dead, it confuses old fogies like me if I don't check the date and time stamp first before barking.... In some cases laws change and it makes more harm than good.

Everybody says "use the search feature!" and "look around!" instead of asking the same questions.

    Guess someone finally did
