Announcer/engineer on the FM side mostly, with some commercial production for the AM side. Before I left for the Navy I'd switched jobs to KWWL-AM and had the prime-time R&R show, 6pm to mid nite.

    That's cool

I was at a few commercial station, I was the guy filling out the logs because I had a first class - yippee - that was boring. Had one uncle as programming director and another was a dj, worked at both of their stations. I got to run the board a bunch of times as a fill in because they didn't have anyone with a third class to do the job.

Yeah, I had a third class. That was a standard requirement back in the 60s for most announcing jobs. Had Collins and Gates boards at the places I worked. Actually learned on an old, old Collins board at the college station before I started working for KXEL. Funny thing, it was actually a CB contact I made that led to that job. Ham and/or CB were at least partly responsible for most of the jobs I held during my working career.

The manufacture claimed wattage numbers are correct, but since you brought up Stryker as an example, if you look at the 655 on Walcotts website it says 80+ pep watts after tune, same radio on Clays page says 70+ watts after tune and finally if you look on Strykers homepage it says 70+ watts, so how does Walcott get 10 more additional watts?

Been hearing you can get 100 watts peak outta a 655. Both the Stryker 655 and 955 have 4 mosfets according to the specs. So why no 100 watts peak on the 955. Something stinks badd in the woodpile.
