I just purchased a 2012 Pete 386 with a Paccar Mx13 engine. It's now at 430 HP and Torqued at 1350 . I'm always carrying no less than 78,000 running mostly from down south to the east coast or up north. Averaging 6.2 mpg. Problem is truck does ok on average hills and mountains but when I get on decent incline here I go dropping gears. Going up north on US65 out of Little Rock into Missouri I had to drop down to low side gears. I have been to two Dealers trying to get truck turned up no luck. According to engine specs this engine can be turned up to 510HP and 1850ft torqued. But doesn't look like I can find a Dealer that will or knows how to accomplish this. Can anyone help me on this matter.
Paccar MX-13 can't find a Dealer to increase Horsepower and Torque

Pittsburgh Power can probably turn it up. They work on the Paccar engines now.

Watch how high you turn the torque up. Make sure your clutch can handle it

DAF controls the calibrations, it's not simple like uprating a Cummins. You have to request it from DAF so I can't see why they wouldn't know or want to know what was in the unit before releasing calibration. Plus it ain't cheap i've heard its $1,000 just for the calibration. I haven't personally done one nor do I know of anyone who has done one. I just know it is possible.

The drivetrain shouldn't be any issue unless you have a heavy foot mashing it thru each gear. If you let torque/horsepower built up gradually, an increase/upgrade shouldn't be an issue.
I'm running modified tune on my CAT and the transmission is a RTO15613, the first set of numbers is the torque rating "15"= 1500 lbs of torque. I had a 2050 torque program in the engine and never had a problem. It's all about how you drive it.2013Maxx, Itsbrokeagain, magoo68 and 1 other person Thank this. -
