No, but from US20 in Idaho north to Montana it is. And it does run THROUGH the park and is a legal route for trucks to take. I've taken it before from Montana down to Idaho Falls to pick up spuds.
And just for clarification: US191 does dip into Wyoming while in the park (there's little brown signs signifying the state line) and it's still legal there, too.
can you run threw yellow stone?

They banned trucks for a year on 191, but they've reopened it since. I think it's been 3 years now you can run from Bozeman to Big Sky and hit US 20 there.
ncmickey and double yellow Thank this. -
I just ran it for the first time last week & had some confusion so I called the state police in advance.
US191 through yellowstone is open to truck traffic. Locals had complained and succeeded in shutting it down to trucks, but the feds threatened to pull highway funding. The yellowstone folks changed their tune to a "temporary closure to trucks" due to construction. It has officially been reopened to trucks since 2010. http://m.bozemandailychronicle.com/news/article_b5b861e8-99e0-11df-9ac2-001cc4c002e0.html?mode=jqm
US 20 in ID and US 191 in Montana are legal for STAA trucks. US 191 in WY's Yellowstone area is not a STAA highway. However, WY state law allows for semi-trailers of 60' and tractor semi-trailer combinations of 75' on all highways unless otherwise prohibited. So most fleet trucks are still legal to run through 191 in Yellowstone, but tractors with extended wheelbases pulling 53' trailers (STAA-authorized dimensions, but more than 75') are not. The speed limit is also 55 through there. Due to the animosity towards truckers in Yellowstone, you probably don't want to be in violation of either... -
In a word no you cannot bobtail through the park you can how ever arrange for a reset rent a car take your camera and get some amazing pictures I have been there done that. -
Closest I want to get there is Casper WY.
I don't see that as a park, but rather a sleeping mega volcano system. Nothing there for me to see. Im pretty sure it's beautiful. It's not for me. If it ever goes the entire United States will have to be evacuated because it will be uninhabitable for a number of decades.
I always go around. Most of the time it's OTR from one coast to another anyway that far west. -
At first I thought this thread was going to be about a specific color of rocks.
tucker Thanks this. -

All of these are inside the park. You do need a reason to be in the park and no you cannot just travel through in a commercial vehicleHalpinUout, tucker and albert l Thank this. -
