It looks rough but our guys don't keep dangerous equipment on the roads.

I think I'm technically legal. 4 3/8s direct should be 13,200 lbs WLL, machine weighs 25,322. Right?
I haven't put more chains and binders on the truck yet and think it would look stupid if I tossed a couple straps. Maybe put a 2" in the middle where it pivots?

Why not use those chains indirect? Hook to the trailer, up and forward to the equipment, through the tie down point, back and down to a different point on the trailer.

    cnsper and cke Thank this.

4 3/8 direct can secure a machine weighing up to 26,400lbs. You are good to go. Yes, you are correct at 13,200WLL as you have it.

Legally has to be 4 seperate tie downs, at minimum 5000 WLL each. I'd have to use longer chains to do what you're suggesting. I'll keep that in mind, but the whole reason to have tail chains with slip hooks was to sling less chain.

Well you are correct that you are technically legal. I'm not a fan of the bare minimum myself.

Would there be enough chain if you hooked the binder to where you have the chain hooked instead of using the chain to go the whole distance?

Does that machine have an articulation lock?

If not, you may consider the need for securing the machine on both sides of the articulation point
