Hello everyone, I apologize if this has been discussed already, if it has, please be so kind and send me the link. If not, maybe we can start a friendly conversation here and prepare better ;). According to my calculations and some articles I have read, the miles that could be driven, once the ELD take effect, will drop about 15-20 percent. If those rates/mile stay the same, I know for me, and most likely for most, this will be a serious problem. However, my HOPE, is that rates will rise, the problem is how fast. I would imagine a lot of small, older equipment companies, will decide to go out of business, because most of them make their money by running 4k miles + a week, causing a truck shortage and ultimately that rate increase.

    What are your opinions ?

Paperwork costs will be greatly reduced on the industry however new electronic logging device middlemen are happily stepping up to the table and replacing those costs with even more expensive monthly electronic costs.

Leave it to the government to calculate the billions of dollars saved by saving drivers 15 seconds a stop filling out their logs.

Rates could go up or they pay driver for waiting time to get loaded or unloaded. Maybe they will load trucks in 2 hours or less so drivers can keep getting the miles.

15 to 20 percent, for some maybe but I don't think there's too many running in a way that it will have that much of an effect.
