Keep your truck under 5mph; move at short intervals and the ELD won't register your movement. Done this numerous times.
What do you think will happen after the ELDs kick in?

I never said I wished to "level the playing field". I dont want any more regulation than we already have....But, since its already coming anyways..... I do wish the rates would come up some but im doing perfectly fine "competing" over at LS. I work a week ,take a week off... enjoying life.. I will be out fishing in my boat all week if anyones in the area.. BYOB, i dont drink, lol

Leased to Landstar pulling vans? You're competing alright. Just sounds like you're happy for ELD's. I used to get excited thinking of what could happen with rates but listen to what these old timers with 30+ years are saying. Every stupid regulation that's come down the pike was supposed to do that and it never happens.
OLDSKOOLERnWV and bzinger Thank this. -
The company I am leased to, an owner/operated only division of a mega has not decided what they will do regarding owners of exempt trucks. They are putting off until the last minute. Based on 3 factors, I am considering reestablishing my authority and going on my own.
1 I am against the government mandating a device they can use without a warrant to track me.
2 I am against paying $18-$25 for a subscription, if not more, when log books are given to me by my carrier, or I buy one monthly for $3.00.
3 My carrier says to round to the CLOSEST quarter hour. When I park at 8:05, that's 8:00. When I leave at 7:55, that's 8:00. That's not falsification, that is using the rules to your advantage, and that, as far as I am concerned, is the flexibility I want vis a vis ELDs.
And personally, I'd prefer that over running elogs with a real improved HOS.OLDSKOOLERnWV, ShooterK2, JimmyWells and 1 other person Thank this. -
Was talking with the owner and VP today at FCC, the carrier I have my truck on with. They don't really think that ELD's will change much of anything, as it pertains to shippers/receivers. Not even optimistic that rates will improve all that much, at least due to ELD's. Rates will follow the economic activity the same as they do now. Mike and Eric are pretty sharp guys, so I figure their take on this is probably as good or better than anyone else's.
