Make sure all the clips stabilizing the steel fuel lines from the fuel pump to the injectors are in place and tight. My 91 constantly cracked fuel lines (it was so often i carried brake line, a pipe bender and a flareing tool for road side redneck fixes)till i figured out the previous owner had removed those. If its still got the old style pete air ride look into changing out all over to the pete low ride suspension. The difference in ride comfort and stability is astronomical.

An '89 with only 550K on it? How long has it been sitting? That odometer should have turned over a few times already.
Oxbow Thanks this. -
The old timer that I got it from was an O/O, and never ran hard. He told me that he ran a Super B locally here, and then up and down the 5. It has been sitting for about five years with no action. He was starting and running it in his yard.
I forgot to mention, while I was out there I also picked up his old lowboy trailer. The trailer is a "General" from the 70's. It is a 50 ton trailer, that looks to be in great shape. He told me it was sitting in his heated shop for the last 10 years, and it looks like he is telling the truth, so I bought it off him. I don't know much about that old trailer. I do know it is out of Springfield, OR. and the paint/wheels and tires look pretty good.
I will be going out this afternoon to get some pictures for you guys. Thank you for all the input.Oxbow, OLDSKOOLERnWV and Jazz1 Thank this. -
Telltale sign the odometer has turned over is the very first digit on the left will be offset a bit and won't be lined up perfectly with the rest.
-
I am not sure about it turning over. The first digit is a ZERO. It doesn't look like it has ever turned, and I don't have any reason to believe it has been tampered with. He's a good ol' boy, Here is a pick of the odometer.

I didn't realize they had odometers that went into the millions back then. I thought they only had 6 digits and rolled over ever 999,999km. Unless it was changed out or unhooked its quite possible its legit.

Does anyone by chance have the service manual for the 3406B in PDF format?
-
It could be that the speedo was replaced. Those early electric speedos were'nt real reliable. I had to resolder a bunch of the connections in my 90.
Oxbow Thanks this. -
If the seat cushions arent worn out and the fuel pedal hasn't been rubbed smooth there is no reason to suspect the miles aren't real. Not everyone pulls freight so cheap they have to run 150k miles a year. If he worked local its quite possible he did under 30k a year.
OLDSKOOLERnWV, OldPete89 and BoostedTeg Thank this. -
Thanks @spyder7723 The seats are nice, one small tear on the drivers door side, a little needle and thread work should fix it up. Pedals are all original and are not rubbed down!
