surmise and assume are 2 different things.

    surmise
an idea or opinion formed from evidence that is neither positive nor conclusive; conjecture; guess
the act or process of surmising; conjecture in general

    assume
    verb
    1. The definition of assume is to formulate or verbalize an idea for which there is no evidence.

I'll be coming through daytona tom night. I will give you enough cash to put food in your belly and get a greyhound home. Plus provide secure safe parking for the truck and trailer.

Wow....reading all that was posted here made me dizzy and a little sad. People suggesting he sell parts off of the truck? Are you nuts? Let's get this person put in jail on top of everything else. I admit the whole thing sounds a little fishy but I never saw them asking anyone here for money and the scenario is certainly plausible.... So who knows? If it's true I certainly would put worrying about getting the truck back to them on the low end of things to care about and I would get out of there.

Bull, almost anybody who has been employed for a while should be able to handle that. We don't know the OP's situation so I sure won't say he's irresponsible. Could be young and just getting started working, catching up on bills etc. But anyone with half a brain who has been working for a decent amount of time will have money available. Even when I was living payday to payday I always had some funds put away for the unexpected. Some look for excuses and others find a way...

As for your little ploy to turn the tables by saying 'have you got something helpful to offer' give me a break. You said you may be able to find him a place to rent so your friend can make some money, that's helpful for a guy who has no money?

Really? I worked for 40 years and after cancer treatment I had zero funds available when I went back to work. People generalize far too often. Stuff happens and everything has to be viewed on a case by case basis.
