Pretty sure you can collect he GI Bill with Swift. Also Melton and TMC I know you can. And as mentioned Jim Palmer which starts at .41 per mile and also has fuel bonuses. -
My short list of companies was Melton, Roehl, TMC, and Prime. While I could most likely go to my local community college on the GI Bill and receive the monthly allowance for that, I felt that company paid training was better due to my current situation. That ruled out Melton.
I also need a pet policy, which rules out TMC. That pet policy also needs to allow dogs of about 50 lbs, which ruled out Prime. This left me with Roehl.
My intent was to start flatbed (which would start me at $0.39 per mile and $0.41 per mile at 6 months), however Roehl supposedly doesn't have the flatbed freight in the my area.
There may be more ideal situations to start with, but Roehl fit me the best from my research. -

I'm either happy or OK with about 90% of what I've seen and heard about Roehl. Now it's time to get going and start driving. -
I did flatbed with roehl for a couple years out of phx. I did 68k and 70k. But I don't have a life wife or kids so I stayed out a lot. I didn't have a problem with them I left to go to the oil fields and then ended up as a fuel driver in Phoenix. I'm not sure which was better, I'm home every night as a fuel driver except I work more hours than I did as an OTR flatbed. But as an OTR flatbed I lived out of the truck but I only drove or worked for 8 to 10 hours a day. And I'm currently thinking about going back. I miss going around the country and I have nothing here at home except a rent payment
