Insurance companies rule a lot of these trucking outfits in who they can hire. But it's easy for someone to sit behind a desk and tell another company what drivers can be excepted. And who can't because of truck driving skills.
After being laid off from local LTL and then going OTR. I was bored beoynd belief I was use to have 12 plus stops per day and multiple pick ups. In tight docks or backing around all kinds of obstacles.
I went fromm being challenged daily at malls and factories. To being bored because I didn't have to break my set of doubles. Or connecting the dolly to the tractor and sliding the fith wheel. To enabel the trk to haul more weight on the drives.
There's always something to do when driving local for LTL, fuel, or whatever. OTR is just sitting and driving a castrated trk at 62,65, or 68 mph getting flipped off for taking more than 10 seconds to past a slow trk in the right lane. Eating high priced horrible trk stp food. Sleeping in a trk instead of a hotel room. Showing at a filthy trk stop.
And they say this OTR stuff is experience huh. Taking unpaid 34 hr breaks in there trk. If that's the case the driver needs to be home. But OTR is torture to me. And smelling truck driver breath is worst than any form of torture created in this world!!!!!!!!!!!!
