liftgates and wheeling it in is MUCH faster than wheeling it all from the truck. IF, the warehouse guys did their job right and didn't foul up the pallet and they are actually getting most of a pallet's worth of stuff.
the slowest thing you do is wheel it in, so if you can reduce that distance by 1/2 or more, it's much faster
also, running the ramp sucks and everyone knows it. Only 26 year olds can run the ramp.![]()
And, of course, Denver is hard up for drivers no matter where you are or what you do, so anything to make that easier and more competitive would probably help. Isn't Sysco union here in Denver?

I listen, Street. Tanking is pretty laid back...... just long'ish hours this time of year.
I'm comfy in the skin I'm in, too~!!
ZachG91, Mike2633 and street beater Thank this. -
so, we're sitting around the linehaul dispatch office waiting for dispatch to get their stuff together (I'm sure you all know this story) and BS'ing. One guy is in there, he works for a contractor that does locals and pays hourly, and we're all telling him SLOW DOWN, stop driving like an A(*^&^hole in the yard, you get paid hourly, you don't ever see teamsters going a million miles an hour. (the rest of us happened to get paid by the job/mile) and he's like "hey man, I get at least 65 hours every week, it's awesome"
He leaves, we all look at each other and say (in unison) "F (*&k that" -
Yup. Their union shop here. My buddy already got a tues night - fri night shift bid. A lot of guys quit or get fired over stupid stuff. Moving up is quick. They are hiring people with permits from what my friend says. My friend says guys there with only 2 years making 100k+ on good routes. Paid by the case counts on pallet drops there too.
Denver is crazy US Foods 7500 bonus, Shamrock 7500 bonus, Mclane Foodservice (solo) 7500 bonus. Sysco 5k bonus.Mike2633 Thanks this. -
Well you can work oilfields, you can work line haul, you can be employed tomorrow doing whatever you want with CDL in Denver, everyone is hurting for drivers.
But you want me to carry in the food stuff? every day? Yeah, you're going to have to pay big for that.
I know Shamrock picked up two major fast food things May/June and expanded big. I also know that McLane Foodservice is moving off Tower road over by Pena and E470 somewhere in a huge new warehouse. Probably combining what used to be MBM with McLane FS and putting it in one warehouse. (hopefully better designed)
And of course, the old rule still applies. Companies that pay a signing bonus, probably aren't worth going to.Bob Dobalina, Radman and Mike2633 Thank this. -
GFS for a while in Lexington, Kentucky needed a transit driver and was willing to pay a $2500 dollar bonus, which was pretty good I thought for needing someone to just pull doubles at night.
-
I wouldn't say that Saia LH 7500 bonus .62cpm $27 hr
-
Were I younger and closer, I'd've done that. You work for quite the solid company... so THAT bonus would definitely be sincere, and deserved by the driver(s.)Mike2633 Thanks this.
-
It's just night transit pulling doubles no stops no unloading you do have to build doubles sets and stuff, that job was posted late last year early this year I forget, but it wasn't delivery probably going from Lexington to our warehouse in Shepperdsville, KY.G13Tomcat Thanks this.

Mike2633 Thanks this.
