This Houston area businessman is manufacturing Tiny Homes from Shipping Containers.
It is not being marketed as a primary residence, but instead as a camping/retreat getaway. I think it as least looks as good as the wooden ones I have seen everywhere. The price seems to be a little cheaper, also.

These tiny houses have really been taking off! My sister was telling me about them. I watched a TV show on TLC showing people buying the right one for their needs. Not sure if I could live in one, but some were very nice.

I could live in a tiny home easily... Essentially a super sized sleeper with water/sewage/electricity?????

Those containers would be very strong if you can pin them properly into the ground against tornados etc. That steel would be a plus. I don't think I will go for those huge sliding doors. Not where I am.

I would prefer a properly overengineered tiny house though, using say 12x8 for corner frame posts and maynbe 4x6's for wall framing with sand in between two sets of walls for armor against both tornado and cold as well as sound proofing.

If you ever spent time in a sleeper, these tiny houses are a expansion upon that space.

It would make a good office or man cave or hunting cabin, also. I would like to see 40 footer. A 20 or 40ft. deck would be cool.

That's just the problem. My old home we sold was just at 42 long and 30 wide. It's the land though that came in handy with the timber etc.

I have a few websites saved on this subject, I think they look best with siding, insulation and dry wall on the inside, it woutld help with sound reduction, why make tiny a house out of em?

Ever see the episode of Doomsday Preppers where the retired professor built an underground complex out of 40 foot containers?
Called it the Arc, built it to house youth in the event of catastrophe.
