Abilene Motor Express....A New Place To Call Home

Heading west also at 1am, but only as far as Utah. Miles have been light this week and this current long run delivers well past payroll cutoff which should start off next payroll cycle nicely.

 

Well this week has been complete crap. And our 2 biggest reefer customers are to blame.

Tuesday run a "hot" load (2 days late from the hummus plant) to southern nj. Had a 3pm appt, 430 pm was best i could do and let dispatch know. Was told customer needed product and theyd be there to unload me. Also had a reload from same place taking a few pallets back to said hummus plant.

Customer is in process of leaving for day when i get there. 7am is earliest they can get to me. Let dispatvh know and off to ts i go. Get back just before 7am to find a 2nd abilene truck there who got same deal of hot load etc.

Turns out my reload is related to my load so wont be ready for days. Planners just as frustrated that none of this has been relayed to him from said hummus maker.

Reload and back thursday am with clock ticking. Given overnighy bethpage run with midnight pickup and friday am delivery. Me and don both comment how things are odd with this load and that if its late gettin ready 11am delivery will possibly be late. Go home and come back and show up at bh aboit 1130pm.

Guard says call dispatch, there is no bethpage only load. Talk to other abilene driver and his dispatch has brooklyn and bethpage.

After a lil bit of bsing about this that and the other his bills come over and it has brooklyn and bethpage.

Call dispatch, inform them of the issue and ask if they want me to bring a load back on my way back to yard. End up bobtailing back.

1476 for the week....lost roughly 800 and a nyc on this bh screwup.

Guess ill see what kind of money i get for my hassels this week.

 

I thought I was having a slow week. I'm think it's just luck of the draw or alignment of the stars or something as I am sure there is plenty of freight to run judging by all the loaded trailers at both HP plants I have been to this week

On a plus note for you maybe you won't have NE shenanigans (or boneshaker Mack) to deal with much longer

I bought one... but it was after training... actually I bought it for my wife when she was looking into going OTR with me... as for my own use, I figured, if the trainers didn't use one, then I could probably just use the CoPilot App on my phone and eventually purchased a RM GPS.

I think we ended up giving the map to my mother... she LOVES paper maps...

 

A question, lately, I've noticed a considerable number of trucks on the shoulder of 95/495 during rush hour. Are the drivers able to log limited sleeper time while they wait out traffic?

 

There were five between the Dulles toll road and the spur for 270. Two were Abilene and a US Express, don't remember the others.
