What ever will Mr.Rice do without you? He has been piloting a lot of scrapers coming from up north.

Found another pic from "back then" that might be interesting. This was how I supported front axles. The ramp on its edge is 3/8 T-1 , I used these when loading track machines over the front to protect the trailer, they were just a little taller than the front edge. Hardwood and some steel plate on top. I think this is a 777.

Sure now you say that... but on that hot and dusty day in Mine in Saurita - I found out by myself.

Sure you don't want to pull a big trailer again?

I DO pull a big trailer. Its 30' long, has a shower, a thundermug, kitchen, A/C, TV and in 2 weeks I'm pulling it to Avila beach for some R&R. And do tell about the mine in Saurita, I must have missed it?

IMG_1285.JPG IMG_1286.JPG Way back when - I pulled a dead 769 on a goofy nine axle setup when Trail King was rebuilding the booster for my trailer

Here's the rear axle of a 773 dump up on the neck of my 7 axle, before the 9 axle came along. 1st time I hauled one I did it like the beam guys would. Drove the steer tires up on long blocks, put the neck on then backed it forward up on more blocks under the rear tires to get it as far forward as I could to get under my 60L limit on 6-7.Needed about 6' of 12" high timbers under steer tires to do this.. After a couple times of dragging timbers, I built a "sled" that slid on the 2 center frame rails. The front axle came in contact with it near the front of the trailer and then slid (with the help of a little oil) easily to the rear of the trailer. Steer tires inside guage was about 8'6" so it stayed centered. Easily stayed under 14-6.

As I recall, the trucks had nitrogen filled struts on the front axle. I got the shops to release the gas from and the wheels stayed up while it was sitting on the sled. Your pic looks just like mine on the 7 axle.

    Yup

    I was almost 61k
On the rear tridem - took it from AZ to GA. The rear pumpkin was sitting on the neck-couldn't get it any farther forward. The down side of a west coast trailer with no booster.

I got lucky and they had a 470 excavator and a 988 loader so I had them Pick up the front end while blocked under to keep the wheels up. Just didn't expect it to go like like that - but learnin' commenced
