I started my career with dry van, then switched to reefers. If I had a weight problem while weighing at a truck stop, I asked another driver for help and guidance and found they were always glad to help and give adivce on getting the axle weights right. I pay it forward and never hesitate to help another driver on this issue. You won't have any problems with that.
Where should I start looking in Roanoke, VA?

You'd probably be happy with a good line haul job; terminal to terminal, drop & hook. Plenty of those jobs in VA.

I live in Roanoke. I started my ltl career at Conway Freight. I am now at Red Classic (Coke) and am home everyday. If you're interested..in not sure if they are hiring at moment but it's always good to try. Go to redcrewcareers and see if they have anything available. I have a friend who just got on at old dominion as a line haul driver. You could call them and try. My dad retired at Red ex Freight near the airport but he's hearing from the guys he worked with that it's going downhill fast at that terminal. Plenty of options around here. PTC in Montvale is hiring tanker yankers and so is Eagle. Good Luck to you!

I actually turnt down a job from ptc a couple months ago. I would've been running from Lynchburg to Montvale(night shift) 5 days a week, multiple deliveries a day and paid by the load. The paid by the load scared me off and I turned it down.
You guys are right, they're a lot of options out there in Roaonoke. I'm glad that I relocated to Roaonke!DrummingTrucker Thanks this. -
