Turbo Trucker Or any Davis Express drivers......

I am asking you about the company that I am interesting in applying.

The company name is Davis Express. They are based out of Starke, FL. (which is not far from where I live)

I was wondering if you would tell me what their safety rating is, as well as out of service rate, accident rates, etc. etc (Kinda like a back ground check of the company.) I would like to know what all the important things about the company as far is how safe they are.....Before I make the leap back in to trucking.

->I know they are a 'Reefer' company as I have experience with Reefer wagons.
->Starting pay is good with 1 year experience.
->There home time sounds good....Average 3-5 days out.
->They are a 'regional' company - Run FL, GA, AL, MS, TN, NC, SC

Thanks guys for your help. I have almost turn my back on trucking for good. But this forum has help me with gaining that interest to drive again. I have learned a lot from ALL you guys.

    THANKS

I'm sorry, but I have no personal insight into Davis Express, and this is one elusive company to check the FMCSA stats on as well.

I looked high and low for a MCS-150 filing on them, and they are not found. I'm sure that they are filing on another name for the company, but without a US DOT number or some other information, I can't look them up.

To their credit however, they look appealing on a couple of fronts. One, they stay in the deep southeast, and two, they are relatively small, with a hundred or so trucks in their fleet.

Small fleets retain happy drivers, as a general rule. However, since they seem to have a recruiting bonus, it indicates that they have some turnover, but then, that can be explained due to the nature of their business. Refrigerated freight can be irritating to deal with.

You have experience with it, so I'm sure that will be A-okay with you...

Wish I had more to offer, but if someone could get me a US DOT number off the side of one of their trucks, I could look up their safety stats....

I do know that they've been around for at least 20 years, because I've seen the trucks for that length of time....so they probably are stable.

They're about 10 mi. from my house but the only info I can find on the web is their site. I'd like to hear from some of their drivers.

I wonder what their safety rating and Out of service rating is……
I know there is a way to check….

I am really considering sending in my application to them. You know what they say, If nothing is said about a company….It’s probably a best kept secret. Meaning it is probably a ‘good’ company. But that is not always true…..

    I’ll be keeping this updated

could you explain this a little better please?

Like what’s good / bad and high / low.

Maybe some averages for good and bad companies

    Thanks.

    RecommendationISS Inspection Value

    Inspect (inspection warranted)75-100 (BAD)
Optional (may be worth a look) 50-74 (AVERAGE)
    Pass (no inspection required)1-49 (GOOD)

So the higher the number, the more likely your gonna get inspected.
