I have notice there is more contracr freight, than the pass. You can make it, but you will have to work for it. They have plenty of freight, but they have more cheap freight. I been running the same area for years. I have not had a canceled load in 6 mo. Lol. If you stay away from paper, water, and grocery, you odds of canceled loads is better.

I've not had any cancellations but, you are correct there's a lot of freight on the board and it's cheap.
The other problem is a lot of it has to much time on it, ya know the ol 400 mile or less but can't delv till next afternoon or even the day after that.
I've run the same area for years too but now the majority of those loads are going on company trucks. The rates on my plan B and C have been cut to an unacceptable rate.
You right you do have to put in a lot of work now. ( FAR TO MUCH )
Fortunately for you , you have an older truck with lower insurance rates and your also payed off. I don't imagine you having to work all that much more to achieve your goals.

There's also a massive amount of dead end freight on the board now too , more than there's ever been.

What I find funny is when I was with Schneider & I came out of the house (Oklahoma) unless I went to Texas (another cheap area) I had to pull freight paying $0.85-0.95 per mile. Now I have loads available to me leaving Oklahoma going to PA for $1.35 a mile & they are brokered loads from Schneider.

I'm still just treading water til Jan. 5th. Just took three weeks off, now doing a little catching up. I've really given up trying to do what I'd consider "really well" and focusing more on not going off on someone's stupid ###.

I think that takes more work considering the people you have to deal with. Lol

Yeah if I wanted to leave Texas coming out of the house with Schneider it be for about a dollar a mile and just this week I deadheaded 250 miles to Baton Rouge Louisiana that paid me with all the dead head $1.91 a mile... So Schneider is manipulating and pocketing more they are not paying you 65% they're paying 65% of what they deem 65% which is probably closer to 50% or less and on top of that screwing you on the fuel discounts

image.jpeg Update from the helm. Today is my first day running my own Authority. I've just had enough of paying huge percent to get a load from the people I have been leased on too. I have a perfect gig. I work direct with the same produce company as I did yesterday. I got Loves to factor the loads they give me so cash flow will not be an issue. It's taken 3 years to get here. SFI had ZERO issues with me going on my own. Go Pro Trucking LLc rolls on...

Congrats man! Good luck to you! It would be cool if Love's would give you the same discount I get since you're using them to factor.

Nicely done, Dave. I guess a lot of guys just don't get it. There's a lot of money out there if you're just patient and look for opportunities.
I'd ditch the factoring thing as soon as I could, though. Just one more blood sucker with his hand in your pocket.
